Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is Zeus - he is a 3 month old Jack Russell Terrier mix. Zeus is a very sweet, loving and affectionate boy that loves nothing more than to play and be with his people. He is a “boy’s boy” with his stocky build and exceptional energy. He’s extremely active and loves to play fetch with his toys and he is learning to bring it back (usually not without a bit of a tugging war - he needs work on this). Zeus also enjoys playing with his foster brother who is teaching him proper manners when playing. He’s mastered the “sit” command, comes immediately when I call his name, and is doing well learning the “down” command. As puppies do, he is at the “chewing” stage where he thinks my hand is a fun thing to chew on. He is learning to stop this when I use a stern “no” and will lick my hand instead. This is a work in progress, however, Zeus loves to learn and thrives when praised and with positive reinforcement.
At this time Zeus is going out 3 to 4 times a day and is starting to adjust to the different noises outside, but at times can get startled. Because he’s so young, he needs to be exposed to the outside world to adjust to all of the new sounds.
Zeus is learning to relieve himself outside, however, he is currently more comfortable using puppy pads. There is some work to be done in this area, as he is too busy watching and smelling all of the new experiences outside to always do his business. Zeus has been wonderful off leash in a park, he absolutely loves running in circles trying to keep up to his foster brother and will come when called, or if startled will come directly to me and sit at my feet. He can be shy with new dogs and may bark at first, but his curiosity always gets the better of him and he will walk up to them eventually wagging his tail. While meeting people for the most part he’s quite friendly but cautious at first.
All in all, Zeus is a wonderful little guy that is high energy and is sweet and eager to learn. The home environment best suited for Zeus would be a one with another dog that has the same type of energy as he does, or a bigger, playful dog that will enjoy Zeus’s enthusiasm for fun.
