Here's what the humans have to say about me:
If you’re looking for a big, tough dog you've come to the wrong place. You see Lily is a marshmallow through and through. This girl needs a real home, one filled with love that appreciates her tender spirit. I cannot say enough; she is NOT a guard dog.
Lily broke our hearts when we took her in. Emaciated to the point even the vet was shocked. We don't know how much longer she would have survived in northern BC, we're just thankful the owners sent her to us. She is now a picture of health and has been sweet and accepting of everything in spite of what she's gone through. She loves everyone, playing with other dogs and treats.
She is a pure bred Italian Mastiff whose original breeder did not care what happened to her. She’s 4 years old but acts much younger. Spayed and up to date on vaccinations, the only remaining sign of her ordeal is the bald spot on the end of her tail from wagging it too much! She pulls on leash when first out walking but then settles, this is easily fixed with some positive lessons and though she doesn't bark excessively, she does have a big voice when she uses it. While she was in a foster home, she was very curious about the resident cat, we'd want her next place to be her forever home so we're looking for a cat free environment.
We all adore Lily and will be very picky about who she’s adopted by. If you are willing to contend with a lot of questions, a home visit and will stay in contact with us then we’d love to hear from you. The first step is to complete an adoption application: http://bigheartrescue.weebly.com/adoption-application.html
We do not have a shelter so you won’t be able to meet her until we’ve reviewed your application.
Note: We do not adopt to residents living outside of a two hour driving distance. Applications from outside of Canada are not considered.
