Cassie and Apollo are in Blue Sky Rescue of MN. They are up to date with vet care and altered. In the words of their foster:
"Cassie is a middle aged adult dachshund, who we think is near 6-7 years old. She is about 12lbs at a very healthy weight. She is the friendliest most snuggly doxie I have ever seen! She loves everyone! Apollo is a 3-4year old Chihuahua, possible mix. He is around 8lbs. Apollo is an absolute heart breaker, everyone who meets him falls in love with him. Dogs, cats, and kids are all ok with them! They do well on leash and enjoy a few short walks a day. They sleep in a large crate together at night and sleep the whole night that way. They haven't had any accidents as they are taken out frequently during the day and kept gated in the kitchen when alone. Apollo has been known to mark his territory while adjusting to new surroundings but that lasted a few short days and was contained with ease by using a belly band. These guys are total love-bug couch loungers! They just want to be with you no matter what! They just love a nice warm lap and a blanket and they are happy for hours! Cassie is more vocal than Apollo, she just gets so excited to go outside that she barks the entire way to the yard! They both seem to be pretty fearless! I haven't noticed any problems with the vacuum, loud music, or anything! Food is no issue with these two! They are currently eating Wellness Small Breed, a healthy high quality kibble. Cassie is a Double Dapple Doxie, that means that she was born from two Dapple parents. "Dapple" dogs can not be bred together as their puppies become at risk for hearing and sight issues. We were told Cassie is blind, or may have sight issues in her right eye. She gets around just fine and it doesn't seem to bother her a bit! She just needs to be carried on stairs and have no access to open stairways alone.
Cassie and Apollo lost their owner recently and have been together before and after the owners passing. I believe they do have a bond to one another and they comfort each other in times of need. When separate, even for a short time, you start to see their stress signals begin. Both will whine, pace, and become anxious. You can just tell they want and need each other.
Their perfect home would include a large fenced yard, and a home with minimal or no stairs for Cassie. I think they would be ok with respectful older children who understand they are small, fragile dogs. They would be fine alone during work hours but what dog doesn't love a stay at home owner?!
Who ever adopts these dogs will be so lucky. They are full of love, quirks, and cuddles. The enjoyment they have brought to my life is indescribable, and I will miss them greatly."
Screening required. Thanks for considering adopting these two wonderful well loved dogs.
