Here's what the humans have to say about me:
DAPHNE would LOVE a breed savvy owner that will engage her in dog sports such as tracking or nose-work! DAPHNE is true to her breed and not a dog for the faint of heart :) She needs leadership and guidance and in return will be an AMAZING canine! An adult only home will be considered and she will not be adopted as a guard dog!
Daphne handled surgery like a PRO and is healing well. She will require several more tumors be removed on her left side and we expect a full recovery. Thank you to everyone that has sent messages and funds to help with her vet bills.
Update: Nov 3, 2014. Our vet advised us that Daphne should have some tumors removed from her mammary area as they did not recede post breeding and were painful for her. She is recovering nicely in her foster home. We are currently raising funds for her vetting. Visit our website for details at crossourpawsrescue.com
Daphne is a wonderful, playful German Shepherd about 5 years old. She was transferred to COP from a shelter in Vancouver after 6 months of looking for a home. She was found as a stray and never claimed.
Daphne is a typical GSD and is true to her breed. She would appreciate an owner that understands the breed and has cared and trained a German Shepherd in the past. Daphne was clearly used as a breeding dog but no worries as she is now spayed. She does well with most other dogs but can be a little pushy at times and will herd smaller dogs. She tested fearful of cats but we don't think she would be do well them if the run. Daphne has beautiful recall and listens well, however, she needs to earn the right to be permitted off leash. She can be protective and needs to learn to give that job up. An experienced home with no small children would be best for her.
Daphne weighs about 60 lbs and is house and crate trained. If you are interested in learning more about Daphne please visit our website and download our adoption questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us.
