Here's what the humans have to say about me:
10/27/14- Bopper is a big extrovert.. He loves attention and will follow you around trying to get you to stop what you are doing and pet him. He likes to jump up on a shelf or table to get close to your eye level, and then if you give him the slightest encouragement, he will jump onto your shoulder and ride around there, purring. He’s a big boy, and sometimes he lurches a bit and has to grab on with his claws to keep from falling, so this isn’t always comfortable for the human involved! But we indulge him because he just loves to be close to us.
Bopper is very gentle with people and would do fine in a household with kids. He probably would also be fine with dogs because he is quite bold. When we rescued Bopper off the street, he tested FIV positive. The FIV virus is transmitted via bite wounds, so because of that and because Bopper can be aggressive with other male cats (never with people, however) that means it would be safest for him to live either as an only cat or with other FIV positive female cats. (He gets along quite well with active, feisty girl cats.)
Bopper has been neutered and vaccinated and is ready for a home of his own. Despite the FIV, he is healthy and can expect a long life—many of our FIV cats live into their early teens and pass away from other causes. He is about 5 years old and had been with us for quite some time, because people unfamiliar with FIV are often reluctant to adopt cats with the virus. It’s a shame, because Bopper is a wonderful, affectionate boy who would make a lovely pet, and he deserves his own family to love! Would you consider giving this handsome, loving cat a home of his own? Please contact us with any questions about Bopper or for more info on our adoption process.
