Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Duchess's adoption fee is $350. Here’s sweet Duchess! What a lovely little girl! She has won the hearts of our whole family. Duchess is just over 3 years of age and she weighs about 17 pounds. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines and is micro chipped. She is a very affectionate little girl that gets very excited when you come home and doesn't rest until she is on your chest giving you kisses. You’d better love kisses because she is relentless! Oh, she will stop when you want her to, but she doesn't really want to. She has started to tinkle a little with excitement when returning home if you have been away for the day, so we usually head straight to the back door before any kisses.
Duchess is very friendly to everyone who comes to the door, but tends to jump up on them. With training this behaviour should be able to be changed. Duchess is very good and when you say "no" she listens. She loves to cuddle and be with you wherever you are, living room, bedroom, bathroom! She loves to sleep in bed with her humans and likes to go under the covers next to you. She’ll wake you with a nudge or kiss if she wants up and needs to go out and that is usually about 7:30-8am. After an outing she’s ready to snuggle under a blanket again.
We have given her a couple of slippers which she loves to shake and get your attention for playing tug of war. She also loves to play fetch and if you cover her head with a blanket and tap her nose she thinks that is great fun. Duchess also enjoys car rides and enjoys looking out the window.
She just loves attention! Petting, talking to her, hugging and kissing her makes her so happy. Her tail wags so much sometimes I think it's never going to stop. We leave her a few treats when we go out, and she is generally quite good - she knows we are going and knows we are coming back. There have been occasions where she howls when left home - for this reason, she’d probably be best suited to a single home environment. We also feel that she wouldn’t be a good fit for a home with cats – she’s quite prey driven and would likely chase them.
Duchess has some issues with a disk in her back. She is completely functional, but is a little weak in her right hind leg and sometimes she doesn't have any control over a bowel movement (she just continues to walk and doesn’t realize that she’s pooping). She also toes out her paw a little when she walks and her back end may drag a little sometimes. To prevent further injury, she should be carried up and down stairs, and prevented from jumping on and off of the furniture. Duchess loves to run around, but her activity should be closely watched to prevent further injury. She has had 4 acupuncture / laser therapy treatments and has responded very well to them. Further treatments may be required periodically.
You will really fall in love with this little doll. Everyone that meets her - neighbours, other family members and visitors just think she is adorable and very well behaved.
