Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Remy is being fostered in SK
Please visit the Collie Rescue Network website at www.collierescuenetwork.com and FULLY READ the adoption process before sending an inquiry about Remy. An application is required to be filled out and can be found at the CRN website (www.collierescuenetwork.com).
Remy is a busy, busy young girl of about 15 months old! She will only be adopted to a home that will keep her active and busy, both with daily activities (long walks or hiking, play time in the yard, jogging, etc.) and weekly activities like agility classes, obedience, fly ball and so on. Remy does not have a typical laid-back Collie temperament and needs a job and things to do to keep her busy and happy.
Remy is great with people of all ages and is happy to meet and greet everyone who would like to stop to chat with her. She is good on-leash and LOVES car rides so will love to tag along with you on trips and outings! Remy is an affectionate girl and like to cuddle with you on the couch.
To say Remy is smart would be an understatement. She is a thinker and will assess and think about things to figure them out. Some mental stimulation toys would be a huge benefit for her - anything where she needs to learn and think for treats will be right up her ally.
Remy will only be adopted to a home with a fully fenced yard with wood-type fencing (she will climb chain link). Someone dedicated to spending time outside with her to ensure she doesn't find that one spot you missed will be needed. She's fine for a quick pee outside but don't think leaving her in the backyard for hours at a time will work - she WILL find a way to find something more fun to do.
Another young, bouncy, fun doggie buddy in her new home would be great as she loves to run and romp and play with the dogs in her foster home. She would also be fine as an only dog but will need a bit more stimulation and play time with her people.
Remy is an alert barker and will alert you to, well, lots of things. However, when you snap your fingers she lays down and is quiet. We found, though, that it takes her a few days to settle into her foster home and for the first few days she is quiet barky. Once she settled in she was much quieter. Someone used to the Collie version of 'Hey - Look at that!!" though will be needed.
Although Remy is crate trained, crating her all day while you are at work will not be an oprtion. She will chew her way out (or damage teeth on a wire crate). She is fine when left alone in the house as long as she is given things to chew and play with though. Someone home part days would really be her best fit or someone who could take her to work with them.
Remy is really attached to her foster dad and seems to love men in general. Although she'd be just fine with a woman, her dream home would be a gentleman who worked in the trades that allowed her to go to work with him!
Remy is not a candidate for flying with the rescue program to another province as she would find a way out of her crate on the plane!! She's smart!!
If you think Remy is a good match for you, please visit the Collie Rescue Network website at www.collierescuenetwork.com and fill in the online application found there. Please FULLY READ the adoption process found on the website.
