Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Talk about a VERY SPECIAL DOG!
Pepe came to us from an Ohio shelter where he found himself after his owner went into a care home. Pepe wasn't in the best of condition and someone had pulled all his teeth (?) which means that his tongue sticks out most of the time -- but he had such a winning personality that the shelter staff soon fell in love and convinced us we should take him into rescue.
Pepe came into the same situation in his foster home that he had just left. His foster provider was just bringing her mother, who suffered from a long time illness, home from a care center. Pepe knew just what to do so when arriving at his foster home. He rarely left the side of his foster's mother until she passed. The family was so taken with Pepe's dedication and devotion that they asked that memorial contributions be made not only to Hospice but to Star-Mar Rescue in Pepe's honor. He's that special! The word "devotion" falls short of this exceptional little dog's attachment to his people.
Now that Pepe is jobless we are seeing a whole new personality emerge. Pepe is having fun and enjoying life. He loves everyone and everything. He loves children, loves attention, bonds quickly and is playful and fun. He is crate trained and house trained, loves the car and walking on a leash. He is happy with everyone he meets. Pepe is 7 or 8 years old, weighs about 11 pounds and loves to cuddle. He has a extremely soft coat and great fringed ears. He is low shed but does need to be groomed.
Pepe is very excited when his foster's great niece and nephew come to stay. He follows their every step and sleeps in bed with them. He races with them through the field and sits by them at the lake when they're fishing. He is equally taken with his foster's 2 year old grandson and is patient and kind. He would be fine with visiting children or with children 8 or older living in the home.
Pepe's adoption requires a fenced yard and someone that is home more than a 40 hour work week allows; someone that works from home, works part time or is retired.
Pepe would make a greatl registered therapy dog. He already knows just what to do to comfort his "patient", how to lie quietly on the bed and how to let the nurses in to do their work. There is a wonderful therapy club here in the Wooster area as I'm sure there are elsewhere. This little dog needs someone to give to him after all that he has given to others.
If you fee; that your lifestyle and environment can fit with Pepe's needs please contact Martha Leary at starmarrescue@gmail.com or call 330-262-0515 or 330-466-3667 for more information or an adoption application.
STAR-MAR RESCUE IS REGISTERED WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AS REQUIRED BY STATE LAW.
