Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jax is a big goofy happy boy! He desperately wants to have his very own family or person to love him. Jax came to our rescue through no fault of his own and the events that led up to his unfortunate abandonment at the local high kill shelter are as follows: the family who adopted him found his sad little face at the shelter when he was just a baby. Because he was small and adorable they adopted him. Jax was overjoyed to be wanted and loved. Well, fast forward a few months and as all puppies do, Jax grew and was now a very large exuberant strong puppy....and as the story often goes his family let him down. Instead of taking the time to work with him or teach him not to play so rough, they returned him to the shelter. The story is also a familiar one because people who abandon their pets at a shelter like to think they get adopted. BUT most times, especially in the south, this is not the happy ending to the story. The trusting faithful family dog is put to sleep. Not because they are bad dogs, but because the shelters are overflowing and there is no room. This is Jax's unfortunate story. A volunteer at this shelter fell in love with him and saw his potential. She contacted many rescues but most are also at their limit. Our rescue had an opening. So now Jax is patiently waiting for his forever home. He is a very good boy and super intelligent. He knows basic commands and wants to please. He will be a quick learner. We recommend training for his new owner and Jax. This builds trust and good behavior. A home without small children would be best as he is strong and can unintentionally knock a child down. He is good with other dogs if they are not pushy. A home with a female dog would probably be best. Jax loves going for walks and also having his belly rubbed. He does require a lot of exercise and would also thrive in a home with an active family. If you think you are ready for an awesome companion and you have what Jax needs to happy you will not be disappointed. Everyone who meets this sweet boy loves him.
