Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jack is being fostered in Saskatchewan.
If you are interested in Jack, please visit the Collie Rescue Network website at www.collierescuenetwork.com and fill in the online application found there. The full adoption process is outlined on the website. Please take the time to fully read our adoption process before sending an inquiry through Petfinder or kijiji.
As you can see from his photos, Jack's favourite spot to be is on your furniture. Jack will be happiest in a home that is going to allow him to snooze on the bed or the couch or the chair...or whatever piece of furniture you own that Jack deems "comfy-cozy!". If you don't want the dog on the couch, Jack is NOT your boy!
Jack is a gorgeous Smooth Collie who is almost 2 years old. Jack needs a home in a rural area with little traffic going past. He is what we call "hyper-alert" and goes into alert mode for every car that passes the window, every person walking past the sidewalk, every bus, every...well, everything involved in city-life really. He gets very agitated when too much is happening. Once we moved him to a rural foster home, Jack settled down and is a happy boy once again. Jack will only be adopted to home in a rural setting. This is not a question of what your training abilities might be or how well you think you may be able to work with him in your city home. Rural life is a non-negotiable must for Jack.
Jack is excellent with the other dogs in his foster home and would love a canine buddy to romp around a fenced yard with. However, for his age he is not overly bouncy and will do just fine with an older, retired couple as long as he gets lots of play time in the yard. Jack must have a fenced area to run and play in!
Jack is excellent in the house and is such a nice, nice boy. He sits patiently in line for his treats and never tries to push his way in for either cuddles or treats. When it's his turn he is a sweetie pie and loves to bring you toys for you to play Tug-of-war with him. If you've had enough tug, he will try to entice the other dogs into playing with him!
Jack will alert bark to lawn mowers (you need to make sure he's inside when mowing because he WILL try to herd the mower or weed snipper!), tractors, cars, etc., so a home who understands alert barking breeds like Collies is a must.
A laid-back person who will accept Jack for his quirks and see him for his funny, sweet personality is just what he needs. If you are interested in Jack, please visit the Collie Rescue Network website at www.collierescuenetwork.com and fill in the online application found there. The full adoption process is outlined on the website. Please take the time to fully read our adoption process before sending an inquiry through Petfinder or kijiji. A $350 adoption fee applies to all dogs adopted from Collie Rescue Network.
