Meet Koda! This sweet old girl was left behind when her family moved away. Luckily she wandered to a home that cared about her enough to find her a rescue. She is about 10 years old. Why anyone would leave their sweet companion after 10 years is beyond our immagination. The info below is from her foster family:
Koda is a well-mannered, calm, friendly, and delightful dog. She has transitioned very well and acts like she has always lived with us. She is very good with children and even slept by the bed of our granddaughter when she spent the night with us last week. She loves to "play ball", and will often pick up the ball and head for the door waiting for us to go throw it. She returns it to be thrown again as well and will release it on the command "Give me the ball". She will lay down completely when you say "sit" and will sometimes "speak" when offered a treat. She will eat anything and will drink from the toilets if the lid is left up. When outside, she will lay nearby when I am working in the yard, or will go lay in the garage when it gets too hot. Her left hind leg turns in and she has stumbled a couple of times just coming into the house on two steps - we have never tried her on the steps to the basement. She seems to get along with, or just ignores other dogs although she has not really been around another one much. She does respond to the name "Koda" well. Koda will be a wonderful companion and is definitely "low maintenance" at this time.
If you have a soft place in your heart for older dogs, this sweet girl may be perfect for you. She adjusts to new places and people well and just needs a great home for her retirement days. Senior dogs over 10 are "donation only" to approved applicants, however out of state adopters will still be required to pay for transport into your state.
