My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Addie is as sharp as a tack. And she's as mellow as she is smart. She's really loyal, too, and loves to be with her person.

Born in December 2013, this girl was luckily rescued by EARS after she was abandoned with her brother on the side of a desolate road. They were nothing but a rack of bones. They were in awful condition.

Addie ran off to find help at the nearest house while her brother just sat there next to the food dishes, food and bed that were dumped off with them. We know they had a home at one point for some time, because they both know how to sit and shake, they were both completely house-trained too.

Now they are each in foster care and are of a healthy weight. Both are ready for their forever homes. They are not in the same foster homes so they could certainly be adopted separately or together. Either way they both love other dogs and are great with people both big and small.

If you think Addie or her brother Shep might be a match for you please email us at empirerescue@gmail.com for an adoption application. Please if you cannot adopt or foster a pet...share their story to increase their chances of adoption.

Please email us only regarding the adoption of our rescues. We are very sorry but we simply do not have time to return everyone's phone calls as we are a very small and all volunteer group who also work full time jobs. We will return your emails however in a timely fashion.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Please email empirerescue@gmail.com to get an adoption application for me emailed to you. You will be so glad you did. Be sure to write ADDIE in the subject line of the email.

If you cannot adopt but you would like to help you can make a donation or sponsorship to defray the cost of our high vetting bills please mail donations to: EARS, 2 Fancher Ave, Salamanca, NY 14779. You are also able to make donations via Pay Pal to us at empirerescue@gmail.com. We are in need of help for our spay and neuter clinics and emergency angel fund as more and more animals need our help off the streets and back country roads! Any amount is greatly appreciated!!! Did you know that your donation to EARS is also tax-exempt? That's just an added bonus to helping a homeless animal in need!

Did you know that sharing saves lives? Please like us on Facebook at Empire Animal Rescue Society to keep up to date with our new rescues and events! Sharing pets via Facebook has saved thousands upon thousands of animals from being put to death in shelters! You never know when one of your friends might be in the market for a new pet! Besides, sharing only takes a few seconds!

Why Adopt? Adopting rather than shopping for your next pet will help to reduce the number of animals euthanized. Adopting a pet actually saves TWO LIVES as you free up space for another animal in need to find lasting love through the wonder of adoption.

You’ll get a pet who is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and healthy. As opposed to purchasing or getting a “free to a good home” pet, you’ll welcome a fully-vetted companion animal in to your life.

Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of shelter pets are homeless through no fault of their own. Divorce, financial constraints, time limitations and NOT the animal’s health & or behavior are the most common reasons an animal is left homeless.

You’ll save money. Many pets in the shelter system are already spayed or neutered and if not, shelters often receive a discount from their participating veterinarian and passes the savings on to the adoptive family. Also, adoption fees are much less expensive than buying from a breeder or pet store.
