11/2/14: Domino Is Remarkable
Domino arrived at his foster home after a long journey and it took him a while to recover from the trip. He is now doing great! He is having fun at daycare every day and has met all kinds of dogs which he seems to really enjoy. He does very well with everyone and is friendly and gentle with dogs and people.
We are more and more impressed with Domino every day and he is so cute to boot! He is an exceptionally sweet dog which is astonishing since his life before Rescue was undoubtedly harsh. He has multiple scars on his body indicative of being attacked repeatedly by other dogs. He also has a scar near his neck that appears to be from being chained. In spite of his previous hard life, he just keeps getting better and better every day! Remarkable!
09/10/14: Domino Languished In A Shelter For More Than 7 Months
Domino was surrendered to a city shelter over seven months ago and managed to stay alive. This is quite remarkable especially since he was heartworm positive. Owner surrendered dogs are usually the first to be killed at Shelters and if they have a medical issue and are of the pitbull breed they have very little chance of surviving. Domino is undoubtedly an incredible dog. He is said to be good with people, other dogs and also cats.
The time had come for the Shelter to make a hard decision. They made a final plea for Domino’s life and when we heard about him we were compelled to help. We had an offer from a trainer who helps our dogs who wanted to work with Domino and we quickly started the process of getting him out of the shelter.
A volunteer at the Shelter had commented that Domino was very well behaved. She said he was very wise and mature, even tempered and calm. She felt he was the epitome of a great pitbull ambassador.
Domino has now been treated for his heartworm disease and we are waiting until he recovers a bit before having him transported to his foster home in New Hampshire. Everyone is excited to meet him, and we are eager to report on his progress.
