Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
All HSWA dogs are in foster homes and need an appointment to be seen. Please call 205-554-0011 or email humaneswa@yahoo.com to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability. Before choosing a pet, we recommend meeting the pet or asking questions first.
This sweet pup needs a forever home!!
This adorable little puppy is Melo, a 9-month-old male Shih Tzu. He is a tiny fellow weighing only 9 pounds, and he will not get much bigger. He normally will have a long black and white coat (pictured), but his coat was in such horrendous shape that it all had to be shaved off. So Melo will need constant grooming to keep his coat in shape, or in a puppy cut. Melo was pulled from our city animal shelter, where he had been surrendered by his owner because they could not afford to keep him. He was down there a month on the stray side and not up for adoption due to his coat issues. So we pulled him out and got him taken care of!
Melo is a super dog!! He is very sweet, social and loving. He is not overly active, but does get excited when happy. Melo does not seem to be a yappy dog and should do well in an apartment, as long as he gets some daily walks. He will need to be on a leash if outside or be in a fenced yard. Melo is good with other dogs and should be fine with children over the age of 12 (not younger due to his small size). We have started his crate training. Melo is up to date on his vet care, neutered, heartworm negative and is microchipped. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Such a wonderful little dog, just looking for that forever home!
Our flat adoption fee is $75. All animals have received tests and vaccinations, and have been spayed/neutered if 5 months or older. Adopters receive copies of vet records. Read more info on our adoption process at www.humanesocietyofwa.org/howtoadopt.html. Then, if you feel your home might be the right forever home and you would like to adopt a dog, submit an adoption application or email us at humaneswa@yahoo.com for more info. If you're concerned about availability before getting to meet the pet, we recommend submitting an application first. A preliminary application does not bind you to adoption for a specific animal or to adopt at all. We do not charge a fee to apply.
To apply for adoption, submit an online application or contact us for more info or for an appointment to meet this dog.
