Here's what the humans have to say about me:
9/28/14 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!
Adoption Fee: $450
Fostered in Alabama
Age: 2.5 years
Weight: 3.10 lbs.
9/24/14 - Rambo had his check up today at GVS for his eye. Rambo’s bullous keratopathy has resolved. He still has some blood vessels around the edge as well as a grey/hazy area where the problem was, but the doctor is hopeful that everything will continue to remodel and partially clear over the next several weeks. Othewise, he is completely healed and normal. He will go back in four weeks for another check up. Rambo is scheduled for his neuter this Friday.
Thank you all for your prayers for this sweet little baby.
9/16/14 - Rambo’s follow-up appt. at GVS is set for 9/24/14 to remove the third eyelid flap and see how the cornea is responding.
He is quite the character and is a very positive little man. He doesn’t seem to be affected by his current condition. He’s definitely a “the glass is half full” kinda baby. He wags his little tail to show his delight. His foster mom thinks that once the cone is removed, that Rambo might be a player and try to engage the other pups. Time will tell. He sleeps all night in the human bed and loves it. He seems to get attached to his humans rather quickly and will make someone a great companion.
He is such a tiny little tyke that he will not be able to go to a home with small children or larger dogs. Even though we aren't sure if he will definitely be a player, he is used to other pups in the home, so a home with another wee one would be perfect.
Keep checking his bio for updates about his eye and join us in saying a little prayer that this little guy will heal correctly and fully. Then we can move on to his other vetting that needs to be done.
9/12/14 - Rambo is being such a little trooper. He is settling in quite nicely at his foster home and doesn't even mind wearing the mandatory e-collar. He is even good with his eye meds. He did have an outing yesterday and visited the vet for a heartworm test. More good news, it was negative. The stars are all lining up for Rambo lately. After coming home for the doctor's office he had his first bath and felt great.
His days are quite full with eating, napping, sitting in foster mom's lap, eating and sleeping. Ahhh yes, the life of yorkie.
9/10/14 (8:00 p.m.) - The Ophthalmologist at GVS worked us in today at 4:00 p.m. and thankfully we believe Rambo's eye can be saved. The specialist performed a procedure where there was placement of a 3rd eyelid flap that acts like a pressure bandage to splint the protruding tissue. He was a champ and goes back in 10-14 days to remove the suture and hopefully the outcome will be successful.
He is resting comfortable at his foster home now after filling his belly.
9/10/14 - This sweet baby is Rambo. He was graciously surrendered by his owner yesterday when he had an ulcer that ruptured in his left eye and they were unable to get the treatment needed. It was a very hard for them to surrender Rambo, but they knew he needed immediate attention to the eye.
He stayed the night at the vet clinic in his town on pain meds and aggressive eye meds and is being picked up today by his foster mom and we are setting him an appointment at Georgia Veterinary Specialists to see if the eye can possibly be saved or whether it will have to be removed and Rambo will can be ready for Halloween and wear a cute eyepatch.
We will keep everyone updated as soon as we get Rambo to Atlanta and in to see Dr. Andrew at GVS. Please say prayers that his eye can be saved.
Thank You!
