My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Goldie
Female Shih Tzu
8-10 years old
Weight: 11.1#
Adoption Fee: $100

Little Goldilocks was found as a
stray in July 2014 by a Good
Samaritan who took her in. After
weeks of trying to locate Goldie's
owner, BGSTR was asked if we
could help find her a new family.

Goldie is estimated to be 8-10 years
old and is a confident, independent
and calm middle-aged lady. She
gets along great with other animals,
adores people, and is very familiar
with living in a house. She's
housetrained and social, and she
doesn't startle easily. Someone
loved her. And she loved them back.

Despite her estimated age, mobility
isn't a problem for this spry little
lady. She navigates stairs just fine
and hops up on the couch or chair
to sit near people or other pets.
Sometimes you can guess a dog's
age by watching it move, but Goldie
is quite limber and healthy. Her
weight is ideal. The vets can't find
any arthritis or painful joints in this
sweet little dog.

Goldie will have her teeth cleaned
soon and we're checking into her
eyesight. She has dry eye, which is
common in Shih Tzu and is easily
remedied with eye drops. Her vision
isn't perfect, and her right eye is
stronger than her left. we're looking
into treatment for her vision and
will know more within the next few
weeks.

Although Goldie can easily use the
ramp to hop onto the couch, she
can't quite make it to the tall "people
bed". Goldie has her own bed on
the floor, and she's babygated in
the kitchen for the night. She likes
to snack on her food throughout
the day and doesn't seem to be
accustomed to scheduled
mealtimes. Being in the kitchen at
night (or when foster mom is gone)
allows Goldie to eat whenever she
wants. She eats dry food with a
little canned mixed in.

This sweetie knows house rules.
Someone trained her and she's
perfectly comfortable inside. She
likes to taste people food and
occasionally plays with toys. She
enjoys the company of other
animals but doesn't romp with
them. Goldie is housetrained and
understands general commands
like come, stay, etc. She loves
being petted and being in your lap,
but is confident enough to move to
the far end of the couch if she just
want to take a nap.

Goldie's perfect home will be with a
retired person who is looking for a
quiet, gentle companion. Goldie
walks fine on a leash but gets most
of her exercise in the house. A
townhouse with a fenced patio
would be ideal. She would do best
being free-fed so she can snack
when she's hungry. She has
quickly learned the daily routines in
her foster home and happily goes
with the flow. She likes to cruise
around the family room and
stretches out for a nap when the
mood hits. If you're looking for a
delightful, soft little girl to share
your days, you might be the person
Goldie has been waiting for.
