My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All potential adopter’s will need to be approved to adopt from MWBCR and should visit our website at www.mwbcr.org for more information on the approval process.

While I've been put of town Toby has been staying with a friend & fellow MWBCR foster home. During Toby's vacation he's been in both urban and rural environments and does well in both. Toby's report card is all As! Here is his report,
"He's a good dog. He is friendly and responsive. He and Sully (another male bc) readily engage in play in and out of the house. When uncrated he likes to hang out with us (people).
Toby's refusals (to come or listen) are few and have been when he is engaged with Sully. He crates readily and certainly has not exhibited any fear or aggression. He often seeks me out and stands next to me waiting to be recognized. He is not as pushy as Sully or Reve (2 of the other dogs) when seeking attention. He is sleeping on the floor under my desk as I write this."

Toby is a sweet middle aged guy. He has only been with his foster home for about a week. He happily jumps in the car for a field trip and hops out to explore. He handled his vet visits with flying colors. He is up to date on all vet work; Toby tested positive for Lyme and Anaplasmosis. We are running more bloodwork and will be starting treatment today.

Toby is on a slight diet and exercise plan since he'd like to be the stunning man he knows he can be (also easier to keep up with stalking his foster siblings if he gets in slightly better shape). Toby lives with other dogs and loves to run after them while they chase toys. He runs into his crate when told and sleeps quietly. Toby walks well on leash and checks in nicely if his name is called. Off leash Toby does well, unless there are dogs to chase/"herd" (he doesn't run off, he just stays near the other dogs' butts so he can react to their every move). When we hike off leash he hangs out and happily runs and explores staying close. At home he comes inside when called and often is found hanging out near the door if I'm not out with him.

Toby had a broken leg about 1.5 yr ago. He went through surgery and rehab with MWBCR. Per his previous adopters and from what I've seen the past week, there are no issues with his leg. Toby would love a family where he is an active part of the family. Inside with them when they are around or out busy with them if they are outside. He doesn't want to be left to entertain himself. He has learned to leave his foster families wee creatures (little dog and rabbit) alone, but since cats and wee creatures can be a bit too alluring for him he thinks it's best if they aren't in the same family.
Toby really likes working and being with his people. He LOVES treats and you'll have his rapt attention and devotion if you use reinforcement training to teach him the rules of your home. Toby would love is his new family would take him to a training class or two since it means treats, and more importantly, bonding and working with you.
