Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bruce was picked up as a stray in the winter of 1014 in Onslow County. He arrived very frightened and confused. After some observation, it was thought that Bruce may have been a puppy mill dog or a dog who had limited contact with people during his puppy years. The shelter staff worked with him for weeks to overcome his fears. It is because of this, he was available only to rescues for adoption from the shelter. ARC saw him and after some discussion (he is an AUSSIE after all…) we decided to take him into ARCBCR.
While in rescue, Bruce continues to surprise his foster family. We have found that he is good with cats, good with dogs, loves to do flips when he is happy, and eats well. Because of his unusual Aussie markings and eye color, we have tested him on his hearing and sight. He is fine with both as his recall is excellent and he can hear my car from 50 yards away. He likes people but is slow to warm up to you due to his shy nature.
Bruce MUST be in a home with other dogs. We have found that he does not like to be alone. I would prefer for Bruce to be adopted by someone who knows a bit about Australian Shepard's, dogs with some social issues, and be willing to spend time working and training this wonderful dog.
Bruce is being fostered in Franklinton, NC. Please email his foster family at nsolum@touchnc.net with any questions you may have.
All ARCBCR dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, heartworm negative and on preventative, dewormed and on flea and tick preventative before going to their forever homes. If interested in this pup, please fill out an online application on our website, www.arcbcr.org, and an ARC volunteer will contact you regarding your home evaluation to see if you and this pet are a good match. Please consider making a donation to help the ARCBCR Border Collies. ARCBCR is a 501(c)3 organization making your donation eligible as a tax deduction.
