My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name? I am Kylie!

How old are you? Between 7-8 years old. But age is only a number!

How much do you weigh? Well... I'm not sure how much I weigh, but I was a little chunky monkey, so foster Mama put me on a diet. I'm lookin good now! Best guess is about 50lbs.

What do you look like? I have a beautiful white coat over spots that are on my skin. I have soft, uncropped ears and a sweet face.

What do you like to eat? My foster Mom likes to mix it up a bit, so I don't get bored, being careful not to create tummy upset either. Currently, she's got me on Nature's Domain Salmon and Sweet Potato in the morning and Grandma Lucy's freeze dried food in the evening.

What kind of personality do you have? I'm a total tomboy and definitely NOT afraid to get dirty! I'm a rough and tumble kind of girl who enjoys playing with my foster sister, swimming and rolling in the dirt. I also enjoy sunbathing, but since I'm so fair, sunburn is a concern! My exercise needs are medium - I like a walk or a short flirt pole session, then I'm ready to relax for the evening, chilling out cuddling while watching tv.

Describe your perfect day: Hanging out with my family doing whatever and playing with my canine sister.

What is your favorite toy? I love the Kong Wubba that my Auntie Susan brought me and I like to chew on Nylabones. I also enjoy playing with the flirt pole and catching my frisbee!

Do you know any tricks? I do! My foster Papa recently taught me to shake - with either paw! I also know the basic obedience commands sit, down, and stay. My newest trick is rollover! I also like to catch a frisbee!

What scares you? Not much. I'm a pretty confident girl. Tho I don't much care for the landscaper and his loud tools.

Have you been around children? Do you like them? I have not spent much time around children and because I can forget my manners and jump up when I'm excited, older, dog savvy kids would be the best match for me.

Do you like cats? I'd rather live in a home without them.

How do you feel about other dogs? I can be selective about my canine friends and do best with more submissive dogs my size and/or larger, and slow and proper introductions are a must. In my foster home, I hang out and play with my foster sister.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be? Anywhere my family is - that's when I'm happiest!

How is your health? I'm in great health. Healthy teeth, shiny coat and getting trim too!

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion? I live with my foster Mom and Dad and foster canine brothers and sisters. My closest companion is one of the other foster dogs who live here with me. Her name is Tessa and we do everything together. She's my best friend.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone? In my crate. I'm fully crate trained and see it as my little safe place. But honestly if I was adopted and left home alone, I'd just sleep on the couch and not chew on stuff. I'm pretty good like that.

Where do you sleep? On the living room couch with my canine foster sister, Tessa. Sometimes, foster Mom and Dad let me and Tessa sleep in bed with them - it's a super treat!

Do you like walking on a leash? Yes! I enjoy going for walks and am pretty good on leash, but get excited when I see other dogs. I will sit politely for treats and give my handler my attention when they pass.

Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard? I don't typically bark, but if there is a snarky dog on the other side of the fence, I will run along the fence. I'm not sure if I'd dig if left alone in the yard, as my foster folks let me stay indoors when they aren't home.

Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside) I am completely housetrained!

Do you like playing in water? I LOVE water! My foster Mom and Dad bought us dogs a kiddie wading pool and I really enjoy splashing around it! They also take us to the lake from time to time and I love swimming in the water!

What do you love about your foster family? My foster Mom and Dad have been very patient and kind with me. They have helped me learn how to be a good canine citizen by taking me to LOTS of training classes. They go camping a lot and they almost always take us dogs along too! We even went all the way to Utah for four trips in the RV!

What was your life like before being brought into NorCal Bully Breed Rescue?
I don't remember a whole lot about my life before my rescue. I found myself at the shelter after being picked up in a rice field by the ACO. Not too long after passing my behavior eval and going on the adoption floor, I began to show signs of kennel stress and began displaying bad behavior brought on by that stress. Shelter management decided that I needed to find a safe place to go if I was to leave the shelter alive. The volunteers at the shelter were very nice to me and took me for walks every day to help me handle my stress. Some nice volunteers worked hard to find a safe place for me and I've been in my foster home ever since.

***************************************************************************

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue (NBBR) is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread throughout the Sacramento area. We require our adopters to be within a 50 mile radius of us.
This is because we need to do a physical yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is safe and secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed.
(*FaceTime or Skype are NOT acceptable methods of communication regarding yard checks.)

We HAVE made exceptions for dogs that have been with us long term, and for senior dogs. We would still need to perform a yard check, and would be happy to do so for a dog that has been passed over repeatedly, but not for dogs that are in high demand.

That said, it must be a neighboring state to California. NOT across the country. That would be too much. (*We will NOT be making this exception for puppies or designer breed dogs, so please don’t ask. It’s way too much for us to have to request time off of work and lose pay to drive a dog out of area when we have plenty of great homes in our area wanting to adopt these dogs.)

We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks.

Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog.

Our adoption fees are based on the dog and typically range from $200-$500. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary). In the case of designer breed dogs, like French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs, the adoption fee will be significantly higher in order to offset the costs associated with their surgeries, or associated with their demand.

Kylie's ADOPTION DONATION IS $200

Interested in meeting this dog or another one of our available dogs? Simply complete and submit our adoption application on our website norcalbullybreedrescue.com (FROM YOUR HOME COMPUTER, not cell phones, yet! We’re working on that!!) and we will respond to you within 3-5 days. Once a yard check is completed and you’ve passed the adoption process, you’re welcome to meet any of our dogs!!!

Thanks so much for your interest, and we hope we are able to match you up with your next family member!!! Looking forward to your application!!!
