My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gigi may be small in stature but she is big in personality! Gigi came into our care from a local shelter where she had been picked up as a stray. After her stray hold was up and she was not claimed; Gigi was brought to an A.H.A.R.T. foster home where she was assessed and fully vetted. (And loved!)
Gigi is one of the friendliest chihuahuas we have had the pleasure of meeting. She seems to love people of all shapes and sizes and as long as you have a warm lap for her to cuddle up on, she is very quick to make friends with you. Gigi is a fairly confident dog, though she could work on her socialization with other dogs.
Gigi is being fostered with a larger male dog and she has not had any issues with him. She is hesitant meeting new dogs outside of her foster home, especially larger ones. Obedience training and positive interactions with other dogs would help curb this behaviour.
Gigi is very well behaved and quiet in the home. She only barks if there is a good reason--such as someone knocking on the door and is a fairly low maintenance dog. She loves going for her walks, but is relatively low energy. As Gigi is small, it is important to still treat her like any other dog and not baby her as to prevent "small dog syndrome." Gigi is affectionate and would love to sit on your lap all day, but she is just as content laying at your feet or sitting beside you.
Gigi is house-trained and appears to have used training pads in the past as well. She is encouraged to go to the washroom outside, however, she has not yet learned how to signal her person to be let out. If she is not let out regularly, she will use a training pad inside if available.

As Gigi is a small dog, she would do best in an adult only home or a home with older children. (At least 10 +.) Gigi is truly a little companion and would benefit from someone who is home more often than not to keep her company. If you are interested in making Gigi a part of your family, please submit an adoption application for consideration. www.almosthometeam.com
