Here's what the humans have to say about me:
3/11/2018: SPECTRA HAS BEEN BACK WITH US FOR A YEAR NOW. SHE HAS HAD A DIFFICULT TIME IN RESCUE AS SHE IS INSECURE AND TIMID WITH THE OTHER DOGS. SHE WOULD DO BEST AS AN ONLY DOG AS OTHER DOGS TEND TO PICK ON HER AND WANT TO BEAT HER UP. SHE IS A DOG WHO BONDS TO HER PERSON AND IS EXTREMELY LOYAL TO THAT PERSON. SHE LOVES TO BE INSIDE AND ENJOYS COMFY DOG BEDS! SPECTRA IS CRATE TRAINED AND HOUSEBROKEN IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO HER SIGNS THAT SHE WANTS TO GO OUT. SPECTRA WOULD DO FANTASTIC IN A HOME WITHOUT OTHER PETS OR CHILDREN. IF YOU WANT A DEVOTED SHADOW, SPECTRA MAY BE THE DOG FOR YOU! SHE CRAVES LOVE AND ATTENTION FROM THAT ONE SPECIAL PERSON. 3/18/2017: SPECTRA HAS HAD A JOURNEY AND HAS COME FULL CIRCLE (BACK WITH US). THIS POOR GIRL WAS ADOPTED 2 YEARS AGO. EARLIER THIS MONTH, WE RECEIVED A CALL THAT SHE HAD BEEN FOUND AS A STRAY, SKINNY AND STARVING. WE TRACED HER CHIP BACK AND CONTACTED HER ADOPTIVE FAMILY WHO SAID SHE HAD RUN AWAY SHORTLY AFTER HER ADOPTION (UNFORTUNATELY, NOBODY LET US KNOW).WE DONT KNOW WHAT OR WHERE POOR SPECTRA HAS BEEN DURING THOSE 2 YEARS BUT IT BREAKS OUR HEARTS KNOWING THAT SHE HAD BEEN FORGOTTEN ABOUT. THE PEOPLE WHO FOUND HER WANTED TO KEEP HER BUT SHE BECAME VERY ATTACHED TO AND PROTECTIVE OF THE DAD.ALTHOUGH SHE GOT ALONG WITH THEIR OTHER DOGS, THERE WAS AN INCIDENCE WHEN THE DAD WAS LOVING ON THE OTHER TWO DOGS AND SHE BECAME JEALOUS. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DEAL WITH THIS AND BROUGHT HER BACK TO US. SPECTRA NEEDS SECURITY. SHE NEEDS TO KNOW THAT THE NEXT PERSON WHO COMES INTO HER LIFE IS HER PERSON FOR LIFE. IF YOU ADOPT SPECTRA, PLEASE PLAN ON IT BEING FOREVER...SHE HAS HAD TOO MANY DISAPPOINTMENTS ALREADY. ALL THIS GIRL WANTS IS SOMEBODY TO LOVE HER. 12/14/14: UNFORTUNATELY SPECTRA'S NEW HOME DID NOT WORK OUT AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO RETURN HER TO A KILL SHELTER INSTEAD OF BRINGING HER BACK TO US AFTER ONLY 1 DAY!! APPARENTLY, THEY TRIED TO CLAIM THAT SPECTRA HAD BITTEN THE CHILD-WHICH WAS UNTRUE. WE BELIEVE THAT SPECTRA MAY HAVE NIPPED OR LUNGED AT THE BOY (WHO WAS ONLY 2-3 YEARS OLD)OUT OF NERVOUSNESS OR FEAR HOWEVER, THE PEOPLE NEVER GAVE HER AN OPPORTUNITY TO ADJUST TO HER NEW HOME AND AS WITH ANY NEW DOG, YOU SHOULD NEVER ALLOW A TODDLER TO JUST RUN UP TO THE DOG, ESPECIALLY UNATTENDED. THE TODDLER DOESN'T KNOW ANY BETTER AND NEITHER DID SPECTRA-THEY ARE BOTH BABIES AND ONE OF THEM IS IN UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY! WE STILL FEEL THAT SPECTRA WILL MAKE A GREAT FAMILY ADDITION IF GIVEN THE TIME SHE NEEDS TO ADJUST TO HER NEW HOME AND SURROUNDINGS. SINCE BEING BACK HOME WITH US, SHE IS DOING FINE AND IS A HAPPY GIRL ONCE AGAIN. WE ALSO BELIEVE THAT SHE WILL DO FINE WITH CHILDREN WHO ARE RESPECTFUL OF DOGS AND THEIR SPACE. SPECTRA IS PAD (pick adoption donation) ELIGIBLE! You choose what you want to pay based on what you feel our rescue efforts and Spectra's companionship means to you! 8/29/14: THE GIRLS ARE MAKING TREMENDOUS PROGRESS AND ARE BECOMING VERY FRIENDLY, LOVING PUPS! THEY REALLY CRAVE ATTENTION AND HAVE STARTED PUTTING ON WEIGHT (STILL THIN THOUGH BUT NOT FOR LONG NOW THAT THEY ARE GETTING A STEADY DIET!). ALL 3 PUPS HAVE BEEN SPAYED AND ARE READY TO GO HOME TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES! THEY SHOULD DO WELL IN ANY SITUATION AS THEY ARE HAPPY AND EAGER TO PLEASE!Spectra and her (2) sisters are approx 3-4 months old and is probably a hound/shepherd mix.A lady had found these three girls eating her cat food one morning and believe that they were dumped in her yard. They are extremely thin yet took turkey from us very gently. They are also very scared and were trying to scare us away with growling. It didn't work and after some turkey bribery, they were eating out of our hand, wagging tails and wanting to play and be pet. They still are scared and it will take some time to win their trust but we don't think that it will take long! We will be working fattening these girls up and getting them vetted but they will need permanent homes. We believe that they will make terrific family companions once they learn to trust people..but who can blame them for being a bit distrustful when they were starving and dropped off in a strange place! A little love and TLC will work its magic like it always does! If interested in adopting either Twiggy, Spectra, or Slinky, please let us know! Their adoption fees will be (you choose) each and will cover their spays and vetting. You may call us @ (352)493-1255(leave a detailed message with dog's name if no answer and we will call you as soon as we get the message) or email your interest and your adoption application.
