Here's what the humans have to say about me:
12-21-14 Hello my name is Chip. I weigh 2.2 lbs. and live in Mount Pleasant SC
(Charleston)
Well folks I will be going to my first therapy session just after the first of the year.
Balancing is still a major problem. I have taken some steps and I am able to stand on
my own but when I walk it looks like I have been drinking. I lean a lot to the right so
consequently I fall over to my right. But this is much improvement from a couple of
weeks ago. Hopefully the therapy will help because I would sure love to run and play
with the other dogs.
Y’ all have been so generous with your donations and I so very much do appreciate
that. Therapy is a little pricey so if you still have it in your heart I could still use some
help. Please use the link below to donate to the cutest Yorkie ever. Maybe in a couple
of months I will be able to get around without falling.

Thanks!!

Update 10-26-14: Hello my name is Chip. I weigh 2.2 lbs. and live in Mount Pleasant SC (Charleston) Well I got a new toy yesterday. I got some wheels. I’m not real sure what to do with them but I am trying to figure it out. I have moved my legs a couple of times and this cart moves. I am working real hard to get my legs moving more so I can navigate around the room. There is a picture attached so you can see what I am talking about.
I overheard Foster Mom telling Foster Dad how much this contraption costs. You wouldn’t believe how much a few pieces of aluminum hooked to some wheels dent the budget. Anyway I am back looking for some donations to help pay for this wheel chair that they bought to try and help me walk again. Please help with anything you can.
Chip
UPDATED BIO 10-4-14:Chip is 6.5 months old and weighs 2.2 lbs. He is currently in the hospital in Mount Pleasant SC.
Chips writes: Well I am still in Mount Pleasant SC I am 2 weeks older than last time I wrote. I will be 7 mo. old next week. My weight is up to a chubby 2.2 lbs. I am feeling much better and seem to be getting a little bigger. I seem to have a problem with a couple of wires that go to my brain from my legs. The legs work fine, you should see me move across the room when I want to. The only problem is I can’t stand so I have to scoot on my side. Foster Dad and the doctors think there is a good chance that those wires could get corrected if I am put in a 4 wheel cart to get the movement right. So yesterday they ordered me a brand new cart designed just for me. They said since I only weigh 2.2 lbs. they have to make a special one. I sure am looking forward to getting that cart and maybe getting around better. I will let you all know how I am doing when it gets here. (2 weeks) Foster Dad said something about these carts being pricy, whatever that means, so please continue your donations and prayers. I NEED EM

9-14-14 Hi my name is Chip. I weigh in at 1.7 lbs. and I am in the hospital in Mount Pleasant SC. I go from feeling better to not feeling so good. I am not eating like I should and water is disgusting. Well you guessed it, this has caused my blood sugar to drop and I have made two trips to the emergency room in the last three days. I am still not walking but I am showing slow progress. Tomorrow they are going to do some additional testing to make sure the surgery is holding like it is supposed to. Dr.Brofman says I am doing ok considering what I went through. I want to thanks y’all for all your prayers and donations. Please keep the prayers coming because I still need the help. Hopefully I can get out of here tomorrow. Chip
PDATED BIO 08/24/2014: Chip is 5 months old and weighs only 1.8 lbs, although it may be better if he gained 1/2 lb or so; he is being fostered in Mount Pleasant, SC.
Chip here. In case you didn't read my earlier bio, I came into UYR with something called Atlantoaxial instability. It is a condition in which the first two cervical (neck) vertebrae are not firmly attached; I've had my surgery to hopefully correct this condition, and have not gained any weight since we last spoke; well, except for this piece of metal they put in my neck. I still tip the scales at 1.8 Lbs. and now I am...... let's see...... I have to do some math. I was born on Mar. 10 2014 that makes me 166 days. Now it’s your turn to do the math.
All kidding aside, I came home late last night from the hospital. The last week has been a little tough for me. I am moving all my legs and feet, but as of now I can’t stand up. I am eating and drinking fine and everything is going through me ok. I have stopped taking pain meds and seem to feel pretty good. Dr. Peter said when they have to work around your spinal cord, sometimes it gets swollen and needs time to settle down. He is quite optimistic that I will walk again but it might take some time. I have learned that if I want some attention I just have to bark a little and Foster Mom or Foster Dad come running. I learned that in the hospital. Foster Mom says the spoiled me there. Anyway, now I spend most of my time on FM or FD's lap.
I am feeling ok, but I sure do want to get up and play. I try hard to stand all the time. I thank you for all your prayers and support, keep those prayers coming because I sure need them. Thanks to all of you who made donations to cover my great big bill at the doggie hospital for my great big surgery that hopefully will help me walk again. Luv y’all... CHIP
Update 08-20-2014 Chip could be doing better. I went to see him this morning and he looks so sad. He has feeling in his feet but cannot stand. The vet says this happens sometimes with this surgery and there is about a 50/50 chance he will recover completely. Keep the prayers and donations coming, who knows what is going to happen. Keep watching UYR.US for updates.
Update 8-19-14: This is Chips foster Mom. His surgery went as well as can be expected with his small size. Dr. Brofman says the surgery repaired his neck and he should be as good as new. Things were a little shaky during surgery. His blood pressure dropped and his breathing became very shallow. Dr. B said we almost lost him but he came through in the end. Chip is resting comfortable and will be in the hospital 2 to 3 days. As I hear more I will keep you all updated. Keep the prayers and contributions coming and thank y’all for all your support.
Update 08/15/14: Hi Chip here. Well today I went to see Dr. Patrick to get checked for all that puppy stuff. I tipped the scale at a whopping 1.8 Lbs. Dr. P gave me a rabies shot and said he thought I was ready for the surgery to fix my neck. Foster Dad called Dr. Brofman and scheduled surgery for next Tuesday 8/19/14. They said all will be OK but I am scared. We have not quite reached our goal so please help so I can have the whole surgery. They might only do half. JUST KIDDING. Most of all remember me Tuesday with a little prayer. Chip
Initial Bio 08-2-14: My name is Chip. I am 4 ½ months old and weigh exactly 2.0 Lbs. I am so cute I can’t stand myself. They say I have something called Atlantoaxial Instability (AAI).
Atlantoaxial instability is a condition in which the first two cervical (neck) vertebrae are not firmly attached. Normally, the atlas (the first cervical vertebra) and the axis (the second cervical vertebra) are attached by a group of ligaments. They are further stabilized by a prominence on the axis called the dens that protrudes into a hole in the atlas.
Atlantoaxial instability can lead to cervical spinal cord injury, the symptoms of which include: neck pain; a drunken, staggering gait; paralysis of all four legs; or sudden death.
Well after reading that definition I still don’t know what I have. I overheard Foster Mom talking to the vet and it appears that in order to fix me it is going to get expensive. (Over $2000.00) Please help me by contributing to my surgery fund. We need to get a sizable start on contributions before they can schedule surgery. That last part of the definition scares me. When I am better you will not be able to resist adopting me.
