My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Isn’t Arby a handsome fellow?! In addition to being a stunning looker, this dog has a personality that has endeared him to everyone he has met. From the good samaritan that found him, to the shelter employees that worked so hard to find him a safe place to go; from his foster home and rescue, and at veterinarians’ offices all along the way, Arby has touched so many hearts. You see, Arby was found by a gentleman in pretty bad shape, having been attacked by another dog. His leg was torn up and this gentleman did not have the funds to pay for the necessary treatment, so he tearfully relinquished Arby to the animal shelter so that his wounds could be properly attended to. Shelter staff quickly fell in love with Arby and happily saw him through a month of recuperation. When it was time for Arby to be placed up for adoption it was found out that he had heartworms. Another strike for poor Arby, but they were not willing to give up at the shelter. As rescues would come in to save other dogs, staff would suggest they take a look at Arby, but heartworm treatment is an expense that many rescues just can not afford. We happened to be at this shelter and one of the prisoners that provides care to the dogs asked with the most hopeful, pleading look if we were there to see Arby. Well, we weren’t, but could not resist at least meeting Arby when all the staff was begging us to please, please give Arby a chance. You see, they had held on to him for as long as they could and his card had been “tagged” meaning euthanasia was looming if something didn’t come through for him and fast. Needless, to say, Arby charmed the socks right off us and we agreed to bring him to our rescue. Volunteers raised funds for his heartworm treatment. A wonderful local foster home cared for him during the eight week period of bed rest that is required after heartworm treatment. Arby has many, many angels and we are excited to now have him with us as the final stop on his way to finding his forever home.
Arby gets along fine with other dogs and cats. He especially enjoys dogs of the same calm temperament and will curl up on the couch with another sweet pooch. He will be absolutely fine as an only dog and will bond very quickly with his humans. He is sure to be loving and loyal and a fabulous companion. Arby has absolutely terrific house manners. He is quiet and calm and never makes a mess. He is crate-trained and happy to be in a crate when the family is away. He walks very well on lead and meets new people nicely on our walks. Arby is 2 years old and weighs 37 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his shots. We would love for you to meet Arby and ask that you first complete our adoption application form at www.cedarfarmrescue.com then call 336.251.8877 to set up a time to visit with him. We meet families at our adoption center in downtown Mocksville by appointment only, generally setting the appointments for between the hours of noon and 4 pm or after 7 pm any day of the week, holidays included. 45574
