Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Velvet has a silky, shiny mahogany red coat and loves keeping it that way by getting baths and being brushed. Velvet had a litter of pups when she was very young who have all since found their forever homes except for Tullia who is also available for adoption. Velvet will be 2 in July and is a Husky mix, who is about 55 lbs. She is extremely friendly and playful and is fostered with other dogs but would prefer to be the only dog in the household.
Velvet shows no food aggression, you can take food/toys from her, reach in her bowl, touch her paws, reach into her mouth, and is housebroken. She absolutely loves to ride in the car and walks well on the leash, especially when she goes shopping at the pet store. She loves meeting new people and will even pick out her own toys. Velvet is a water baby at heart, she loves water and enjoys supervised swimming fetching balls and toys. When she’s not swimming, she loves to lay on the grass or patio and sunbathe until her fur is nice and warm. After a long day, Velvet loves to lay on the couch and snuggle at night and watch TV with you. She especially loves Popcorn Parties and will lay still next to you and wait patiently for you to share your popcorn with her. If you are not sharing, she will let you know by pawing at your leg. She is extremely gentle and would never take without asking.
Velvet is very loyal to you, and wherever you walk, she’s right by your side, and if you stop, she sits, and looks up at you with tail wagging. If she hasn’t seen you all day, she will often tug at your hand to tell you to stay. She is extremely smart, wants to please and picks up on things very quickly. She is very agile and loves zooming around the yard. If you are interested in agility, she maybe the girl for you. She must have lived with kids because her tail goes nutsy when she hears the kids playing next door.
Your first step for adoption is to complete our adoption application at www.apathwaytohope.org. We will then screen your application through a vet reference check, phone interview (this is when you can ask all of your questions over the phone), reference checks (2) and a home visit. Our adoption donation is $300 and includes spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccines and preventatives up to date per the dog's age, health check, fecal / deworming as needed and heartworm testing and treatment as needed. More details will be provided if you are being considered for adoption.
