My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I was sick, lost and only 8 weeks old when I was brought to the shelter. I was placed in a cell in what’s called the stray ward. I was told by the others that this is a temporary place; “Your family has 5 days to come get you out”, said an older yellow Lab. I looked around, I thought to myself; they’ll come for me… A couple days went by and my skin was getting worse, but I still had hope. I passed the time day dreaming about what I’m going to do when I see my family again. I’m going to shower them with kisses; I laughed out loud at myself, I can’t wait! By the end of the fifth day, I was getting anxious and weary. I think something bad happened, that’s why they haven’t come for me. Surely they still love me. No, don’t think like that, I told myself. I whispered to the long-haired girl, in the cage next to me. I asked her what happens now. She looked over at me, lowered her head and said, “Well, if the humans determine that your adoptable, you will move to the other hallway, there you have a chance to find a new family”. Oh, that’s good! They’ll see I’m a good girl. I know I’m just a little kid and all I know right now is how to give kisses but I can learn anything they teach me. The long-haired girl’s eyes turned sad. She said, “Oh honey, I’m afraid you won’t make it to the other hallway”. What? Why? “You’re sick; they don’t move anyone who’s sick to that side”. So what’s going to happen to me? Where will I go? With a long pause, the long-haired girl’s voice started to crackle. She said, “Honey, they will put you to sleep, you will never wake up”. My heart fell; but I don’t want to go to sleep forever! I have so much I want to do, I can get better! I just need a chance... The long-haired girl, told me to stay calm and to give her my paw. I reached through the metal opening closest to her cage. There she put her paw in mine and she prayed for me. She told me to give all my worries to God and I did! There was a sense of calmness in the air, I opened one eye and looked around. Everyone was silent, eyes closed and heads bowed. We all had something to talk to God about. When we finished she told me that God has plans for me, they are to prosper not harm me, to give me hope and a future. I went to bed that night feeling very peaceful. I woke up the next day with a different kind of energy. I can’t explain it, I still didn’t know my fate; but I felt good. When the human came to my cage she opened the door and smiled, she said “He heard you”. She took me to a room and handed me to another smiling human and from there we left that place together. Once in the car, she softly said to me, “God does care, He sent his rescue angels to give you a second chance”. My name is Lila and I am six months old. I am all better now, my skin and hair healthy and all grown out. I am not very big only about 12 pounds. I am a playful girl with good manners, thanks to my foster mom. I am very grateful to my foster family for the love and guidance they have instilled in me. My foster mom told me that I am ready for a family of my own. She said, she has taught me everything I need to know. I am excited about the thought of having my very own forever family. I will miss my human foster family and my canine pals and oh yeah my feline pal too. I know God has my family picked out already, so if you are the ones, please visit www.foreverhome4dogsrescue.com to fill out an adoption application. You can also email foreverhome4dogs@aol.com for any questions. God bless, Lila.
