My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Luka is our Georgia boy. He is a sweet, 1 year old long coat Alaskan Malamute. Luka LOVES people, is awesome with children (even very young children), is wonderful with other dogs and is cat friendly. He is great on a leash and is crate trained and house broken and knows how to sit. Luka does suffer from separation anxiety. He does very well when crated if you are away from the house, but can be destructive if left loose when no one is home. If the family is home, he is perfectly content. We are working with Luka to help overcome this anxiety because he is a wonderful dog in every other capacity. We are requiring that his new home be a malamute experienced home because the breed has some special quirks.

We are a 501(c)3 Rescue operating in the VA, MD, DC, and WV areas - with the ability to adopt out of state. A copy of our adoption application can be found on our website - www.openheartsrescue.org. Please fill out and forward via email to openheartsrescue@yahoo.com. Meet and greets are only scheduled after an approved application is received. The adoption fee on our dogs is $125.00. We are a foster-based, volunteer organization and answer all emails as quickly as we can.
