Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Benny's story...
I'm about 1.5 yrs old, spayed, and up to date on all vaccines. I'm very active, love to play, get brushed, and love love to cuddle! I'm excellent with other cats and with proper introduction, I'm confident I'd do great with pups too. Please contact my foster mom below and setup a time to meet me, I'm sure you will fall in love.
Benny has Feline Immuno-deficiency virus (FIV), which is a commonly misunderstood condition in cats. It is not lethal, in fact, FIV positive cats can live long, healthy lives when properly taken care of. FIV occurs worldwide, but is more prevalent in certain geographic areas. The virus seen in cats is in no way transmissible to humans or dogs. FIV is only spread through deep, penetrating bite wounds, which is why most FIV+ cats are male, unneutered tomcats who have been involved in a fight. Once an FIV cat is neutered, the desire to fight decreases significantly and usually goes away completely, which means it is rare he would transmit the disease to another cat.
Kitties with FIV can live normal, healthy, long lives, even surrounded around other non-FIV cats. We know many people in the Fox Valley area and beyond that have a full cat family of FIV and non-FIV cats who are living happy, long lives harmoniously together. For even more info on FIV, visit: read more here http://www.vet.cornell.edu/FHC/health_resources/brochure_fiv.cfm
