Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Mimi
Breed: Chihuahua
Gender: Spayed Female
Age: Approx. 7yrs, 10 mos (in June ’14)
Weight: Approx. 5.8 lbs
Energy Level: Low to Low-Medium
Apartment Appropriate: No
Good w/ Dogs: Loves other small dogs! Good with larger dogs if they are CALM and not overly interested in her. Does not care for highly active dogs of any size.
Good w/ Cats: Has visited a home with a cat and been fine
Good w/ Kids: Mimi prefers adults, but may be fine with calm, respectful kids age 12+
Comments: Mimi is such a sweet little girl! She gets along so beautifully with all the other Chihuahuas in her foster home and enjoys being part of the pack. Every dog she meets seems to adapt to her because of her easy-going energy, and she’s happy to take a back seat to bossier pups. She loves when her foster brothers clean her face and ears, and she likes to clean them, too. Being a little less on the bold side, Mimi really appreciates having a dog she can follow, and she must go to a forever home that has another friendly dog to be her buddy. If you don’t already have a friend for Mimi, don’t worry- we have plenty for you to choose from! The only thing she doesn’t especially appreciate is too much energy/activity. She gets intimidated by people and animals that don’t prefer keeping things peaceful like she does.
Mimi loves attention and to be snuggled up under blankets with her people. She knows how beautiful she is, and wants you to tell her regularly. In fact, sometimes, just petting her isn’t enough- she wants your full attention with you looking admiringly at her or she’ll groan and paw at you to let you know it’s MIMI time! It always makes her foster family laugh. She’s not crazy about kissing and face-on-face time, but will usually tolerate it if you keep it quiet. :-) If you let her sleep with you at night, she’ll crawl under the covers next to you and be quiet as a little mouse until morning, or she’s happy to sleep under her blanket in her dog bed near the bed.
Besides cuddling, Mimi’s favorite activities are putting on dance performances, basking in the sun with her people nearby, and anything involving food. At mealtimes, she’ll talk to you to tell you how excited she is and dance her happy dance. It is super cute! She also takes treats more gently than any dog you’re ever likely to meet. Because she enjoys her food so much, Mimi needs her new family to watch her waistline and feed measured meals twice daily. She cannot have food left out, or she becomes overweight rapidly, and she doesn’t want to lose her girlish figure. She has already had to have surgery to repair her back left knee due largely to having been overweight in her last home, though now she is fully healed.
All Mimi wants is a quiet home with people who will love her and keep her included. She is very easy to live with and makes her foster family smile every day. As long as you don’t leave her loose in the house unsupervised, she is even housebroken. She’s going to make some lucky family very happy, and will be a wonderful sister to any dogs in the home. If you’d like that lucky family to be yours and you live in the DFW area, please fill out an application to meet Mimi today!
