Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dakota is a 4-5 year old golden mix. He was a forced owner surrender due to neglect. He was in a shelter in North Carolina. When I picked Dakota up from the vet's office, I couldn't believe what I saw. He was very scared, shy, skinny, and stinky. He was pinned up against the door of the room and didn't make eye contact with me at all. Dakota looked at the vet as if he was saying, "Please don't leave me. I don't know who she is." He was infested with fleas and had a double ear infection. The vet staff noticed him limping so after xrays, it was determined he'd require a few surgeries. Thanks to Dr. Murphie and the staff at Anderson's Corner Animal Hospita, Dakota has recovered phenomenally and is back to full health and happiness. Through each of his surgeries Dakota has proved that he is a very strong willed dog. It has taken time to build Dakota's trust, but it's been rewarding. I call him Superman because of all he's been through surgery wise and life wise. The surgeries were his new lease on life, leaving his pain behind and starting fresh. Nothing holds him back. I've seen him running around and keeping up with his foster brothers and sister. He has a strong essence for life. He's one of the strongest dogs I've ever met.
He's a true Cinderella story...from 21 lbs and no hair, to 60 lbs and as fluffy as ever. Dakota has a strong pull for love and attention and we think it's best he be an only dog. He loves to be loved on and spoiled. He loves to dig in the sandbox. If you're looking for a chill yet spunky mutt, he's your pick! He's the first one to the door to go for a ride. You can trust him to sit by your side with out a leash. While looks aren't everything, it doesn't hurt that he has the most adorable face and heart melting eyes. Once you win his trust, you will definitely have a best friend for life.
