Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Initial BIO 06/29/2014: Meet Sophie! She is a feisty 5.5 pound, 11 month old Yorkie being fostered in Clearwater, FL.
Poor little Sophie has already been in many different homes (I think 5!). She has had to tolerate small kids that weren't so nice to her, a little dog that didn't like her one bit, homes without puppy experience and very little guidance on how to learn "puppy rules". She is reported to have behavioral issues which we are currently assessing so she is not yet ready for adoption. She was previously prescribed anti-anxiety medication and we are starting to safely wean her off.
So far in her new foster home, Sophie is an energetic, playful Yorkie pup with some understandable separation anxiety. The other little dogs in the house seem to have helped her tremendously in her initial transition. She needs to know what is going on and where everyone is going at all times! If she is left alone, she will bark and cry until she sees you again.
Sophie would probably do best in a home with in adult family who someone who is home often. She would love a fenced backyard for running around. Because of her past experience, Sophie cannot be adopted into a family with younger children, she is simply too afraid. She needs someone who has had experience with a puppy since she is already behind on learning her puppy manners (not nipping, getting brushed, house training, etc). Sophie has a lot of energy, so be ready to play and take many walks or spend time in the backyard burning it off with her! She'd also really like to have another small dog who would tolerate her playful and bossy attitude.
Apartment living would not suit Sophie well only because she does bark excessively. We are hoping that as she builds her confidence, and she is not so nervous, that she will bark a little less for her new forever family. Can you blame her for being worried and scared? Poor little Sophie hasn't had someone she can count on yet. Could it be you?
