Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Introducing Yukon Red /aka/ Big Red, a very sweet and handsome 2 year old red longhaired standard dachshund. Yukon was in a shelter before coming into the loving care of rescue. Initially he was very shy, but, with attention and encouragement at his foster home Yukon has definitely made progress when meeting new people. His pre-shelter history is unknown. Based on his excess weight of 34 pounds, his goal weight is 25-27 pounds, we theorize he was owned by someone that may have thought food = love and probably did not walk or socialize him properly. So, Yukon has been enrolled in the Gentle Dachshund Boot Camp diet and exercise program plus socialization course at his foster home. He has been an exemplary student. He walks daily at his pace and is doing great. Yukon is house trained and crate trained, he is now eager to go on his daily walks, he has shown his playful side, he is very good on car rides, rarely barks and likes older respectful children. Yukon gets along with other dogs, regardless of size. He has not been cat tested. Yukon Red's ideal COLORADO home will understand his weight issue and must remain committed to following through with proper diet and continued daily exercise. If you would like to meet this awesome dachshund an adoption application is required. The application can be filled out online at www.c2cdr.org. Yukon has been fully vetted and microchipped. His adoption fee is $250.00, the wonderful feeling of adopting a rescued dog is priceless. For additional information email: boulderdachshunds@comcast.net.
