Here's what the humans have to say about me:
!If you are interested in this or any other dog being fostered by IGCA Rescue - Colorado, please contact our state Rescue Coordinator (Bobbie - coloradoigrescue@msn.com) to start the adoption paperwork process.
Rocco is 11 years old and a really, really good boy. His owners could not keep him anymore but it is not his fault, he is an awesome dog.
Here is what Rocco wants:
Whatever you're eating. He desperately wants to eat whatever you are eating but he’s willing to wait patiently while you decide if he gets some or not. He does not have many teeth, so he likes soft foods best. He eats canned food.
Belly rubs. Rocco is super affectionate and loves to snuggle with you on the sofa and get petted while you watch TV. He flips over on his back when he trusts you and offers up his super soft belly for scratches. He seems like a very serious dog but when you win him over he becomes quite silly.
Your spot on the sofa. The minute you stand up you have forfeited your spot on the sofa but do not worry, he’s just keeping it warm for you.
A toy. Rocco really wants to play with toys but for some reason he thinks he shouldn't. When we offer toys to him and try to get him to play he covers his eyes with his paws or looks away. But after a while in his foster home he’s finally accepting that he’s allowed to play with toys and will join in if another dog picks up a toy to play.
A walk. Rocco has been on walks a couple miles long with his foster dad and he did just great. He walks well on a leash but he trails behind you because he’s not too sure about life. He’s a little timid and wants you to take the lead. He avoids unknown dogs. Rocco would be fine as an only dog as long as his people are around the home a good portion of the time.
To kiss you, but only when he wants something. Snuggled, food, petted, food. He really likes food. You will have to watch his diet because he would eat too much if you let him.
He wants to sleep in the bed. He's a good cuddler and does not take up very much room but it is really important to Rocco that he sleep right next to his pack.
To make you happy. Rocco tires really hard to make you happy. He is easily wounded by harsh words from you. He wants you to be happy with him and he will do his best to make sure that you are.
A home. Rocco wants a place that he knows he's going to be forever. He wants people to love (and Rocco has a huge amount of love to offer) and he wants to know that he’s never going to be homeless again. Rocco is a very health dog with all his shots and newly cleaned teeth. He’s ready for his new home!
Rocco is paper trained and after the first week in foster care he hasn’t had any accidents. He would probably do great with a pet door.
