Georgia’s story is a sad one, but she’s hopeful that she can find her happily ever after despite some difficult circumstances. Some of you may remember this adorable face from about 4 years ago when she was a foster with us before. Back then, her name was Danni, and we originally pulled her from Barrow County Animal Control where she had been picked up as a stray and heartworm positive. She finished up her heartworm treatment and was adopted to a wonderful family that named her Georgia and she had a happy and healthy life with them for nearly 4 years. Recently, though, her world was turned upside down when her family tearfully made the decision to return her to us because their circumstances had changed and they knew they couldn’t give Georgia the life she deserves anymore. It was such a sad situation for everyone, but we promised we would find Georgia the perfect home that would love her at least as much as they did. So, Georgia is back on the market for that perfect family!

Georgia is a pint-sized terrier mix that we estimate is around 7 years old which is the perfect age: she still has plenty of energy to go adventuring like a young pup, but has the manners of an adult dog already knowing her basic obedience and being fully potty trained. This girl is the total package! She enjoys the company of other dogs, participating in our medium dog playgroup at Pawtropolis regularly, but like many terriers, she thinks she’s bigger than she is and does best with bigger dogs so she doesn’t get too bossy. She has had some minor skirmishes with other dogs over valuable resources like bones or even people she wants to claim, but with firm human leadership, she can coexist and even enjoy playing with a variety of confident dog personalities. Georgia would be perfectly content as an only dog as well, though, because her true love is her people. She’s what we like to call a “Velcro dog” because when she bonds to a person, she wants to be near them as much as possible. She is very wary of new people, though, especially men, so you have to be patient in gaining her trust. It typically takes a couple of visits for her to warm up to potential adopters, but once she knows you, she's your best friend for life. She loves to weasel into your lap for cuddles and belly rubs in particular. Georgia would probably prefer a cat-free home, because while her previous home did have a cat, they didn’t really harbor a lot of love for each other due to their differing ideas of what is fun (Georgia thought chasing the cat was a great game).

Georgia’s favorite things to do include playing with toys, especially playing fetch, going for walks in the great outdoors, and swimming! She loves to splash in our kiddie pool and will swim in our big pool, too, if given the opportunity. She also enjoys sunning herself on pretty days. She has plenty of obedience skills under her belt already including sit, down, wait, crate trained, potty trained, and loves to learn new things. Georgia is a wonderful, fun little girl looking for a nice quiet home to chase balls in the yard and cuddle up close to her family– if interested in meeting her to see if she’d be the perfect fit for your family, contact our Westside facility at (706) 227-7887 or email us at bark@pawtropolis.com.
