Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Joshua came to us from Cleveland Animal Control and was known as Fruitcake. This boy had some issues when he arrived but has some wonderful foster parents who have been working with him. Fruitcake has been evaluated and has gone through some extensive training to get where he is today. He has lots of energy and needs to have some positive reinforcement to keep up with what he has learned. Fruitcake is adoptable to the right family.
The RIGHT Family: All the foundation work has been laid to help Josh be a more adoptable candidate. There is still work that needs to be done to perfect his skills, as with any dog that comes from a shelter, there is always room for improvement. Josh is at a point now where he is adoptable to most any family with a few exceptions. The adoptive family would need to be dog savvy, preferably with experience in terriers or other high drive canines. The adoptive family must be willing to continue training with the basics that have been laid down for Josh and insist upon obedience and maintaining respect for their personal space, but in a non-aggressive/ non-violent, positive reinforcement manner. As with any adopted dog there is no time for slacking off on demands despite changing geography. Josh craves structure and direction. Left to his own devices he displays insecure, indecisive behavior that usually leads to problems and anxiety which is usually displayed with Josh wanting to mouth you for a sense of security, attention, and distraction. Josh loves being able to display his great willingness to serve. He excels in mentally stimulating games. In addition Josh’s perspective adopters should not have any other pets unless they are small and kept in cages out of Josh’s reach/sight. I do believe that with ongoing training and socializing that it may be possible to get some control over these drives, maybe not to the point where he can live in a multi dog/pet household but at least to the point where he can be in close proximity of another dog/animal without losing his mind, but for now Josh should be the ONLY pet. If the household has children it is suggested that they be 13 and over otherwise Josh may be too overwhelming. Not because he is mean but because he likes to lean on you for attention and he is a BIG boy. Josh would greatly benefit from a SOLID fenced yard (no invisible fence), instead of a tie out. Exercise and the ability for unrestrained play are crucial to the terrier breed’s overall well being.
