Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Johnny is a 12-pound youngster who had the misfortune to be born into a hoarder's home, a person who probably loved him, but couldn't provide for his needs. He and his sister, Bertie, were among the five dogs that were rescued from a situation that offered no socialization, guidance, toys, or bedding.
This black and tan bundle of love is nearly one year old, and is only now discovering the fun of toys, the joy of playing with a human, and the comfort of a soft bed. His natural tail thumps with pleasure when he is praised, and he shows his gratitude with loving looks. He is sweet and submissive, and he enjoys being petted and being by your side.
Johnny has very distinctive looks with his black and tan coloring. His ears do their own thing, with one standing and one dropping, but we could say that this is what gives him his charm. Shy and sensitive, he hopes the fact that he may not be fully Griff will not be held against him. He's already overcome so much, what with a terrible flea infestation that had to be resolved, and the upset that came with losing the only home he'd ever known - even if it wasn't a very good home.
We feel that Johnny would do well in a quieter home where there is not too much hubbub or noise. He doesn't like a fuss, and he probably would prefer to live with no more than one other dog. He would do best in a situation where there is usually someone home. After all, it is a Griff's job to be the center of attention, and Johnny is prepared to do just that. All he needs is some love and patience, and he is ready to be someone's main man.
He has made a great transition to his foster home, and he grows more confident. He is doing well with pee pads, doing his potty outdoors, and is willing to take a higher level course in house training. He just needs to get to his forever home so that he can give all his love and devotion.
Johnny is being fostered in Phoenix, Arizona.
If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Vicki at vboneill@optonline.net.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
