Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Stitch. Born June 8th, 2013, this spunky, spirited, and comical little Brussels Griffon mix spends his days playing with toys and running around with fellow dogs. But that wasn't always the case. Stitch was brought to STRAES in January 2014 by his owner/breeder because he had a proliferative lesion on his spine. A rare condition that required a risky and costly operation with an uncertain outcome; without the surgery he could not survive. His life at that point had been defined by excruciating pain that made it impossible for him to move or for anyone to touch him. While others may have seen Stitch as a lost cause, we knew that he was a perfect candidate for our intensive care program. And, thanks to the love and support of so many people, he is now healthy and ready to live a happy, normal and active life. Stitch has a beautiful chestnut brown rough wiry coat that requires regular trimming but doesn't shed much. He is fine with other family pets, but can display great ferocity in play. Stitch has a clever mind of his own; he is not an eager-to-please dog and can be quite obstinate. The Brussels Griffon is not a breed for a novice owner. Without a firm hand Stitch can be demanding and manipulative. His adept climbing and amazing jumping skills, acrobatic leaping and flinging himself about, coupled with his curiosity and imagination, can get him into trouble but also makes him very entertaining to live with. An alert watchdog, you will have excitable barking when strangers or strange dogs approach. Like most breeds of terrier heritage, Stitch is proud and sensitive and may become defensive if handled harshly or teased. This is not a breed for small children. Stitch is neutered, has a microchip, is current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and has had a complete physical and dental. The adoption fee for Stitch is $400.
