Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jilly- Updated bio 6/23/14 Jilly is a 8 or 9 year old yorkie mix (probably a maltese/yorkie) who weighs approximately 7.9 pounds. She is being fostered in Leesburg.
Jilly has been with us one whole month now and what a sweetheart she is. Jilly had her surgery to remove the mammary tumor a few weeks ago. The best news is that the biopsy on the tumor showed it was was benign. She may be prone to the tumors reoccurring, but at least it was not cancerous. She has a mature cataract in her right eye. She has no problem seeing and getting around. The vet believes she may even have some vision in that eye since it does react to light.
Jilly is house trained (she does not use a pee pad), she is a great eater, and such a good sleeper. She won't get up until her foster mom and dad get up in the morning. She gets along great with the other dogs, though she does not really play or interact with them much at all. She likes to gather up all the toys and place them in different doggie beds around the house. Then she will lie down in the doggie bed with the toys. Too cute..... Jilly is happiest sleeping on the bed with her mom and dad, but she is fine in the crate if need be. She has become her foster mom's shadow and follows her all over the house. She loves to cuddle and gives great kisses. She had a dental and lost a few teeth. Her breath is so much better.
This is one amazing, adorable dog. She really needs a stay at home person. She enjoys the fenced back yard and watching the squirrels and birds. She likes to go out to visit with them as often as she can. She wouldn't make a great companion for another dog, so she doesn't need another dog in the home. She is a people dog, and any person who adopted her would be getting the best little girl ever.
New Bio 5/23/14 Meet adorable Jilly. Jilly is estimated to be about 8 1/2 years old. She weighs about 7.5 pounds and is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.
Jilly was rescued from the Lake County Animal Shelter just today. She was founding wandering around a neighborhood a few weeks ago. Some kind people picked her up and seeing that she needed medical care turned her in to the shelter as a stray. She was full of fleas and in bad shape. The shelter gave her a total shave down, and then she was spayed. vaccinated, chipped, and released into our care a few weeks later. Jilly has a mammary tumor on one of her nipples that will be looked at and most likely removed when she sees the vet again on Tuesday. She already had some teeth pulled at the shelter when they did her spay, but her teeth need a good cleaning and polishing. Jilly has a severe cataract in her right eye and is most likely blind in that eye, however her left eye is perfect and from what her foster parents can tell she sees and gets around just fine with her one good eye.
Jilly is very new to us, but this is what her foster parents have learned so far. She gets along great with the other dogs in the house. She has either not discovered the cats or she is okay with them. We will know more later. She is very quiet and enjoys being held and cuddled and likes to give kisses. She follows her foster mom everywhere. Her foster parents are not sure if she is potty trained, so a determination can't be made on that yet, stay tuned. Don't let Jilly's age scare you away. She has already proven that she is not an old girl. When she was outside with the other dogs she was as spunky and as full of energy as they were. Of course, who knows what more we will find out about this sweet girl as she gets more comfortable and her real personality comes out. What we do know is that she is a real sweetheart and a very loving dog.
Hopefully after all her medical needs are taken care of, she will find her perfect forever home. Who can resist that face? Hopefully not you.
Watch for more information to come as we get to know Jilly better and find out more about her medical needs.
