Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Benny was found in April 2014 in an ice storm running the streets of little ferry dragging a leash behind him. He was scared, wet and filthy. The nice lady that found him exhausted all possibilities in trying to find who he belonged to... but sadly no once came forward.
Well he has been staying with a great foster family for the past month and they report that he is an amazing dog.
Benny is great with other dogs...(as you can see from the photos), he is house trained, obedient, neutered, up to date on shots, walks well on a leash, and about 2-3 years old.
The only problem Benny has is that he is a bit fearful of strangers and may try to nip or bite anyone new that he does not know. Once he gets to know you after a day or so... he is very sweet and loving and just loves to be held and cuddled. He is young so he does have a lot of energy and loves to play especially with other dogs.
The foster family has 3 older kids with lots of friends coming in and out and they all have a very active social life. They are heartbroken that they have to give him up, but it would be best for Benny to be in a home with a lot less "stranger traffic".
The ideal home for Benny would be a home with not too many strange visitors coming in and out all the time. We would also like a home without any young children...
(although he seems to love them as seen in the photo... we would rather be safe then sorry)
He would make a wonderful companion for an older couple or person.. or a family that has older teens, especially if they have another dog for him to play with. The adopter should also be an experienced dog person and be a strong pack leader to help him thru his stranger fear. I suspect that after a few months of feeling safe in a new home, he will settle and not be so fearful of strangers.
If you are interested in adopting Benny please fill out an application at our website at this link...
