Beautiful rabbit needs a GOOD home. Californian breed (kind of large) (West Eugene)
I acquired this nice rabbit recently and would like to find him or her a great home. I am not sure of the gender yet. This rabbit was originally found running around a neighborhood at a young age. A woman saw a dog chasing him so she picked him up and asked a neighbor who he belonged to. The neighbor said that there was a woman who just let her animals run loose everywhere. The lady who picked her up after the dog chased her decided to take her home. But for the two years this lady let this rabbit live a terrible life of what I call "solitary confinement" in the backyard only getting out of his cage about 3 times in the past two years she had him. So horrible. So this is why I acquired him. I am rehoming him because I can't afford more than my dog. This rabbit's breed is Californian. Californian rabbits are large in size, weighing around 7 to 12 pounds. I measured him and he is 16 3/4 inches laying down (not counting feet). This rabbit is very sweet and likes being petted and will click his teeth when you do (a rabbit's way of purring). He is good natured. He was not abused physically. He probably has been picked up very few times in his life so I have been leery of trying to pick him up (I'm a bit intimidated by picking up large rabbits because of their strength). The lady was able to pick him up to put him in the carrier. He seems to be healthy and I was told he is about 3 yrs old. I am litter box training him and showing him what it's like to be able to roam a house. He wants to eat regular carpeting (which is dangerous) so if you have him loose inside it would need to be some type of hard floor or what I have- indoor/outdoor carpeting (fibers to short to pull up).
I have been involved with an animal rescue group for many years so I am going to do this adoption very similar how we would always do it in the rescue group as it is the best way to ensure a good home, and not end up in a repeat of his former life. I have been rescuing rabbits my whole life. There is an adoption fee of $30 and there will be a home check. If you adopt her then I'd give you the leftover food, shavings, and litter box. Consider the below as like a mini adoption application. Thank you for understanding why I am thorough.
Questionnaire/application:
1. Who all is in the household? include people and pets.
2. What kind of food would you feed?
3. Where would the cage be located? What kind of cage? How wide?
4. Where would he get exersise? How often and how long?
5. Have you had rabbits before? Explain. Answer doesn't have to be yes. I could give you guidance on the proper care of rabbits.
6. Please provide a reference who I could contact
7. Would you like to breed her or him some day?
8. What kind of housing do you live in?
If I feel you could be a good home for this rabbit then we can arrange for you to meet her at my place. You can see what her personality is like and her size and all. No obligation to adopt just because you met her. After the meeting I will decide if I would like to adopt to you. :) Thank you so much for your interest and for reading all this.
