Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rheese is a 2 and a half year old female Brittany. I have had her since she was 8 weeks old, (aside from her 5 week stay at what I thought would be her new home in January 2008.) She is beautiful, bright, and eager to please, like most Brittany's. I have never trained Rheese to hunt, but she is a natural bird dog and points and does her "silent stalking" thing where she creeps up silently on a duck. She loves the water and has been out in a boat on numerous occasions. I suspect she would make a fabulous hunter for someone who wanted to work with her. She has been raised with children and is crate-trained. She primarily sleeps in her crate at nights, although she has also been known to sleep in bed with my 15 year old son.
I do not have AKC papers on her, although I was told by her breeder that both of her parents were from France, and I was shown papers on her
Parents. I had Rheese spayed in 2005, so I never cared much about the
Pedigree papers. She is totally up-to-date on all shots and heartworm medicine, and I can provide vet records if necessary. She is also micro-chipped.
She has a delightful personality, and is quite the affection hog. Rheese prefers to be with company, in your lap, or at your feet. I take her running with me either on a leash, or if I can find a good trail, I let her go. She has LOTS of energy and needs exercise; she also needs companionship - which is one of the reasons I need to find a home for her.
I work full time and am a single parent. Rheese often spends long, lonely days in our back yard and is a ball of energy and needing affection when I get home at 7:30 at night. Secondly, I am moving in 2 months, to a home that has no yard at all. Due to restrictions in the neighborhood, I will not be allowed to fence it in, not to mention that it simply would not be enough room for her.
I can see that she is settling down (after 2 and half years!) but she still has a ways to go. It breaks my heart, because I believe that in another year or two, she is going to be an unbelievably good dog; she just needs time and attention right now - which I am unable to give her. I also travel a lot with my job, and she is very lonely during those times.
Rheese's one true character flaw is that she will run away, given the opportunity. She is a hunter at heart and she loves to RUN. When she has gotten loose, she always comes home, but it is on her time. I can call and call her name, but unless she is good and ready to come home (or nothing interesting to hunt is around) she will run the opposite direction. This is what caused her adoptive family to call me and ask me to take her back.
Rheese had figured out how to go underneath their fence, and was running away for hours at a time. Given the right home, with lots of space and someone who wants to love and train her - she will be a lifelong, faithful companion.
