Here's what the humans have to say about me:
SCR received a phone call asking to please help a "Collie" whose owner had died and was now with another rescue up in Ridgecrest. After pony expressing her down to Orange County it was obvious that she was an overweight Sheltie. Leila weighs 57# and needs to lose about 15#. She reportably snapped at a young child and thus needs an adult home or one with teenaged children or older. She has been medically neglected and allowed to be overweight for over a year. Leila has now had a thorough exam, bloodwork, and xrays as she had a slight limp in the past. Her xrays show some arthritis in her wrists and elbows thus being aggravated by her excess weight. She is on a strict diet. Our vet also recommends she stay on glucosamine/chondroitin for her joints, limit the use of stairs, and no jumping out of vehicles. Leila is not hyper nor is she a barker. She needs a home with a family who understands a Sheltie. Leila is now a contented housedog enjoying the company of several collies and she even plays with a 7 month old pup.
