ARTIE & CALLIE ARE BEING LOVINGLY FOSTERED IN A PRIVATE HOME IN HOUSTON, TEXAS
Callie and Artie spent their first three years of life at a Texas puppy mill. They had never been inside a house, never been hugged, and never slept on a soft bed. They spent their days outside, ignored, in all kinds of weather. They were both extremely underweight and full of worms. These half-brother/sister pups were being advertised as a breeding pair. In Jan 2014 they were rescued by an NBGR volunteer who is now fostering them.
In their foster home they have learned all kinds of new things, like sleeping on a soft bed, being held by loving hands, walking on a leash, and discovering all the sights and sounds of the neighborhood. Callie and Artie are adjusting very well to life in a home. They love everyone they see, including other dogs, kids, and men. They are well-mannered, playful, and very sweet. They are still working on their bathroom manners. Artie does not mind wearing a belly-band.
They occasionally get startled by sounds and sights that are new to them, but they are getting progressively better. They walk very well on a leash and love to play and run in the yard. It will be very important for their permanent home to have a very safe enclosed yard and to always be on leash when going for a walk. They would run if they were frightened, and they would not come when called.
They are spayed and neutered, wormed, heartworm negative and on preventative, micro-chipped, and current on their vaccinations. While undergoing her routine physical exam, the vet detected a low-grade heart murmur in Callie. There are no other symptoms and she shows no signs of this slowing her down.
We hope that a loving family or individual will adopt these two together. Callie and Artie will give whoever adopts them a double dose of enjoyment and love.
Callie & Artie are located in Houston, TX.
If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Connie Lawrence at conniel@andell.com.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
