Just got back from vacation this week and Maggie was very good for her caretakers. We were gone over 2 weeks so it was a good test. She was able to adapt to a bit different daily schedule and not having me around all day. She went for daily walks and continues to improve on her pulling. This will be a work in progress.
Maggie no longer has any problems with going into her crate. She reacted to the command "crate", so I needed to come up with something new. I decided on the short phrase "go in there". What a surprise, no more hesitation or resistance. She will enter her crate and settle down easily now.
At night we alternate between her crate or in bed with me and she is happy in either place. But, honestly, happier sharing space in bed!
When she decides it's time to get up she will crawl up close and put her nose on your nose until you open your eyes. Once your eyes open, anything goes. She will settle back down if you insist, only to try again a while later. It has become a game trying to keep my eyes closed while she nuzzles me.
I think Maggie is a good candidate for agility or tri ball. She loves to be busy and is always ready to learn new games. Maggie's idea of catch is a bit different from my other dogs. They will sit and catch a ball. Maggie would rather jump in the air, all feet off the floor and attack the ball as high as she can. She almost always lands perfectly.
Maggie is still very interested in the rabbits and chippies. She needs lots of redirection when she spots them. She is so quick I have no doubt she would catch them if I let her.
She is still learning her commands. She has a good sit, but stay is very shaky. We are working on leave it and she has been pretty good with that. She knows down and will comply unless very excited. When reminded she responds quickly and puts her feet on the floor.
Maggie is a typically smart B.C. and is coming along very well. She has tons of energy and really needs to burn it off. She adjusts well to new people and has gone to many business places with me. Always on good behavior with people and other dogs. Everyone at the bank looks forward to her visits and the resident dogs at the pet store love to play with her.
We are getting very used to having her around and it will be an adjustment when she leaves. If you want a very trainable, energetic furry friend then she is just the dog for you!

Well, Maggie has been with us for just over 5 weeks and has become a part of the family. She is learning her manners and how things work around here. She is wearing out my big guy Tucker and still has energy to burn.
I'm still not ready to put an activity level on her yet because while being quite active at times she is starting to show her quiet side and an "off" switch. She is getting better on leash, but needs to be redirected when a motorcycle or bike passes too closely. She no longer reacts to cars or small trucks, but is still interested in the big trucks. When going for a walk she will sit at the door and wait to be leashed. She will do the same when coming back in and wait for you to remove her leash.
Maggie is much more comfortable in her crate now. She has even gone in by herself on a number of occasions. She will, however bark a bit when I leave the room and she wants to go along. She is definitely my buddy now and prefers to be with me or whoever is watching her when I'm gone.
She is house trained and will let you know when she needs to go out. She will either run to the door or "get in your face" if that doesn't work. She has been given many opportunities to chew the wrong thing, but almost always chooses correctly. Just one Easter bunny took a small hit in the last 2 weeks. She knows that anything that comes out of the dog basket is fair game, and all toys are shared with all dogs in the house, which at times number four.
Maggie has been loose all night in a very large bedroom / den and has been absolutely perfect. She has, however, found her way into bed with me but shares the space well and doesn't hog the covers.
She is learning her commands and is very food motivated. She is quickly unlearning bad habits and replacing them with good ones. No more counter surfing and she does not jump up as often. This habit needs continued work since when she is excited she wants to really let you know and doing so at eye level is her desired location. Maggie will do well in a home with other dogs or as an only dog. She has been spayed and has been given her first dose of Heartgard and Frontline. Where ever Maggie goes she will bring happiness and energy. She is ready to bring both to your home. Are you ready for her?

Maggie is wonderful to have around. She is happiest when with her people or playing with another dog. We are working on commands and rules of the house. The only command Maggie knew on arrival was "No". She was also quite the counter surfer, but that hasn't occurred at all in the last few days. Maggie is quick to learn and eager to please. It is a real joy working with her.
We have had her on many walks and she is improving every time. She has already learned to stop when we do. There is not a lot of pulling, although she has a good prey drive and needs to be redirected when encountering squirrels, etc. She is handling the traffic well and reacts less each time we go.
Maggie does not enjoy entering her crate, but will remain quiet most of the time while in it. She is finding out that it is the only place she is fed except for training treats, so it's not such a bad place.
We have gone on a number of rides and while she does not want to get in the pickup, she is fine once inside and travels well. Yesterday we took a ride to Grandma's house where she met another dog and did very well. Grandma's small dog actually played with another dog for the first time. Maggie will play with anyone and in her mind all dogs are friends.
Tomorrow she goes to the Vet to get spayed. She was fine on her first visit there and was nearly stolen by one of the Vet techs. It seems she is quite the flirt and everybody wants to take her home.
When Maggie first encountered stairs it was a definite no go. She has quickly conquered them and will follow you up or down without cutting in front of you. She is a really good student and learns fast, like most BC's. Maggie has claimed a corner of the backyard to relieve herself and will lead you there to go.
Maggie still has lots of puppy energy and likes to keep busy, however in the last 2 days we are starting to see signs of her "off" switch. This little girl is full of life and will be happy wherever she goes. Come and get her.

Maggie has been with us for 2 days and is already comfortable here. She doesn't know many commands but is ready to learn and wants to please. She doesn't seem to mind noise or activity as
I had a crew of 7 friends here yesterday with atvs and chain saws going all day. She calmly laid in her crate and didn't make a sound. She is quiet in her crate and for 2 nights in a row made no fuss. What a pleasant surprise! She is new to the crate but is quickly learning it is a good place. More news to follow as we get to know each other better.
