Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Update 3/27/08: What can I say about Pretty Patty?
She is a very non-preposing girl. It’s tough to believe anybody would turn her out. Especially when you see that sweet, sweet face!
She is thrilled with any attention paid her, but will concede the best spots to any of the other dogs. She has even been known to let them have her food bowl rather than get into an argument. If she has a bone, however, she does NOT want it taken away, by human or dog.
Pretty Patty is a lady. She doesn’t demand, and she accepts anything she gets very graciously. She is not above offering her belly up for a good rub if you’re petting her, though. Patty is now dow to 47lbs!
She has very mild interest in the household cats, if they want to come sniff noses – that’s nice, but she won’t go more than a step or two out of her way to see them, and chasing them is out of the question. If they appear unhappy or unwilling to interact she doesn’t bother them.
Patty would like to sleep on the bed, or at least get up and spend some quality time, but unless there are steps or she gets a boost she is currently unable to get up herself. That will probably change as the weight loss increases. Just last week she attempted to get herself into the car (a small SUV).
She is housetrained and will happily enter her crate if a treat may be forthcoming. If things get too active at her foster home (resident dogs, foster dogs and cats, no surprise things get active!) she will seek out the quiet security of a crate, even. She frequently sleeps in a crate by choice – under the bed is another favorite if she fits.
She seems to enjoy car-rides; although she is sometimes initially anxious she quickly settles and enjoys the ride, looking out the window or curling up on the seat.
Patty seems to love everybody. At one of the local dog parks she took life at her own pace but was happy to greet anybody (two-legged or four) who wanted to approach. She is an easy-going dog who would be a wonderful addition to almost any home!
Patty is an approximately 6 year old female that was found in Pennsylvania and turned into the Montgomery County SPCA. Patty was 62 lbs when she arrived and could hardly walk. Her nails were actually growing into her paws, the shelter staff quickly had the vets cut the nails back. The Good Samaritan who found Patty contacted BREW to let them know she was at the shelter and the shelter staff figured Patty had a better chance of being adopted if she went to a rescue. When the BREW volunteer picked her up from the shelter Patty was ready willing and able to trot right out of the shelter and not look back. Patty's diet will continue (she has already lost 9lbs) and she will be in a foster home shortly that will work on getting her weight down.
Patty rode well in the car and was friendly to everyone she met.
