Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Little Light enjoys going for walks with her foster brothers and sister. In typical beagle fashion, her nose is to the ground most of the time. Even though she walks at a fast pace and rarely stops, she manages to smell and look at everything. She even potties on leash.
More stuff: Normally, Little Light ignores our cats. Last Thursday we took in 4 three week old foster kittens.
Little Light's mommy instincts kicked in! When they were being bottle fed, she sniffed them and kept a close eye on them. If they cried, she became very worried, and had to check on them. She's such a sweet dog.
Here's an update on Little Light (4/19/08): Little Light has gradually worked up to being uncrated for up to 6 hours, and has done really well.
Yesterday was her first long stretch loose in the house, and everything was fine. While she loves to play with toys and rearrange shoes, she is not destructive. She'd rather run around with a toy in her mouth than tear it up.
She loves to play outside on nice days. She likes to run after our boxer mix and then rest in the sun

Update 4/1/08: Little Light is doing better in the car. She finds a spot and doesn't move, but she is more interested in looking out of the windows.
She has also gained weight. She was rather thin when she first came to us, looks much healthier. Food is her life. When it's time to eat, she skips, jumps, and cavorts into her crate, eagerly awaiting her bowl.
Little Light loves to play. I gave up cleaning up her toys because as I'm putting them back in the basket, she is getting them out. She loves rope toys and plush toys. She loves to run around with them in her mouth.
Her favorite place to sleep is on an old recliner in our bedroom. When she is done running around with our dogs, she loves to go upstairs and curl up in a corner of it. She sleeps well during the night, and even lets us sleep in on Sundays.
Little Light is really a Little Love. She's never grumpy, but always sweet.
Update 3/1/08: She lives up to her name! She has a wonderful, sweet personality. Little Light loves to play, especially with our boxer mix. She likes to grab a toy in her mouth and run around the house with him chasing her.
They play together outside as well, running all over the backyard.
She likes to cuddle when we watch TV. She will get on our laps, give kisses, and enjoy getting petted.
She loves toys. Right now she is emptying the toy basket toy by toy onto her favorite bed. Some of the toys she runs around with before putting it on the bed.
Little Light has a bright, cheerful disposition. She is enthusiastic about toys, mealtimes, and getting petted.
She is a little nervous in the car, but we're going to work on that.
She had a couple of accidents the first 2 days she was here, but none since (she's been here just over a week). She isn't crated at night now, and does very well.
She watches the cats, but doesn't really interact with them. This morning she walked too close to one of our cats who swatted at her. Little Light barked, but nothing else.
Little Light occasionally barks, but it's when she is playing.
This Little Light of Mine is a beauty of a beagle - and a fantastic mommy to the Songs puppies. She's gentle and kind and caring to the puppies - affectionate and friendly to us humans. We thought she'd be grouchy with our dogs but, surprisingly, she's rather nice to them. Very little growling...and just a little reminder every now and then to keep their distance. We're also surprised at how affectionate she is with us - getting in our laps, wanting to give kisses. Her tail is almost constantly going! There are definitely some things you should know about Little Light:
She is very food-driven - we found her on our step stool trying to get in to our sink!
She is incredibly food-driven - she climbed on a tote to get on the stove (it was off!).
She can get under a baby gate that's only about 4" off the floor with little trouble. When she trims up a bit, it'll be even easier for her.
I think all of these point to the fact that she's curious, fearless, and just ready to explore.
She barks a bit when crated but calms down after about 2 minutes.
