Champ has a pending adoption!
Champ came into our rescue as a 3 month old baby. Unfortunately he was placed in a home that makes a rescuer's blood boil - people who adopt a cute, cuddly puppy, only to return him as an unruly adult once the novelty wears off. When Champ first arrived back to his original foster home, it was obvious that he wasn't given the proper training a young pup requires. Champ is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. These dogs can be a handful and need a lot of exercise in order to burn off their inherent energy. They need a firm but guiding hand to show them what is expected of them. They do not need to be neglected and left to their own devices to get into mischief. Champ listens well and responds to positive reinforcement. He would do best in an active home where he will be treated as part of the family and taken along on outings or long hikes. He really likes to be with his people and if you know what you are doing - he would be a fantastic addition and loyal companion. It really is a shame that he wasted 2 years of his life in a home where he wasn't appreciated. But it's not too late to turn it around for him and show him that he is worth keeping around. He has already shown marked improvement and is learning commands. At least he is house-broken (thank the lord for small miracles).
Champ is neutered, now up to date with his shots and microchipped. He has slight resource guarding issue so we would prefer placing him in an adult home or at least one with older kids. This breed is known to be very protective of their families so he would be a good watchdog. He loves playing fetch so it would be easy to keep him busy by just playing ball with him outside. He is not for a novice dog owner - but he will bring lots of joy to an experienced owner. Champ is now 2 years old and weighs about 75 pounds. He is a gorgeous boy and is ready and willing to become a furever family member to someone who doesn't view pets as disposable when they become inconvenient.
