Here's what the humans have to say about me:
She may be petite & adorable, but don't let her cuteness fool you - Isabella is a handful!
Isa is a 1.5 yr old girl and weighs in at only about 6 pounds. She is designed perfectly for lap warming and traveling easily. She's a wonderful snuggler and is happy to share to covers with you as long as you give her a bit of pillow.
Isa is considered a special needs dog because she has a past history of abuse that still haunts her. During her first year of life, she lived with a family that had an autistic child who kept hitting her. They did the right thing by giving her up, but the scars remain and as a result, Isa requires a ton of initial patience, untill she knows that you are there to only love on her.
Her negative behavior involves not wanting her leash put on her, especially in excitable conditions. Initially, she is also wary of being picked up. She will get upset and try to nip. She is being fostered with a canine behaviorist who has helped her overcome most of this (The trainer will be providing the adopter ongoing consultation for Isa).
The great thing about Isa is that once she understands that her new people wont hurt her, she does a complete turnaround & is an energetic, busy, sometimes naughty :), mischievous girl who just wants to snuggle snuggle snuggle... her desire to give kisses is second to none and she steals your heart very quickly.
She would best in a quiet home with a single woman or retired couple who perhaps has another small dog... Isa LOVES to torment oh, I mean play with, a friend or 2. :)
She needs a person with a very soft manner, but who is willing to be patient & FI*RM when she gets a bit too full of herself.
She also lives with 2 cats whom are tolerant of her desire to play with them. She should not be around children mainly because of her small size and also her past negative experience.
Isa is a one in a million girl for the right home.
=>=> Isabella will only be adopted to a home within 2 hours of Cape Cod, MA where she is currently fostered <=<=
