Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Kaya was left at an animal control facility during the night, and when the officer arrived he was surprised to find a beautiful, purebred Akita tied to his fence. Kaya is about 2 years old and weighs 80 pounds. She is a typical akita with a somewhat dominant personalty and needs to be an only pet. Kaya give kisses and is very gentle with older children and adults. Small kids and toddlers may startle her. She is a very loving, social dog and is fine home alone during the work day. Kaya is extremely well behaved and is dependably house trained. She doesn't need to be kenneled but will kennel up. She handles well with a gentle leader and will be a wonderful family member for a family experienced in her breed. Here is what her foster mom says about her: She likes to sit next to you and roll her head way back and look at you upside down (that's a hint for you to scratch her neck and chest). Likes to lay on her back and watch TV that way too. Very mellow when she's relaxing - let's you handle her legs, paws and rub her belly, whatever. Is very good about her walks - she waits for you to close the door rather than drag you down the steps. Walks next to you, but needs more practice. Will also wait when she comes in so you can take her leash off and/or wipe her feet. She sits when you need to put the leash on and when it's time to eat. Doesn't get into anything during the week - and knows your work shedule. Wants to run errands with you if it's not during work hours she knows. Doesn't dig or get into anything in the yard (as long as it's fenced). Hardly ever barks or growls. Very personable, affectionate, smart - although a little obstinate at times. A real klutz (don't know how she caught that mouse), but as hilarious as a little puppy. Just a riot to have around. Loves to play with the ball. Will bring it to you, but would rather be chased. Plays like a cat at times. Will often slap you one if she gets impatient. Good mouser! I'm sure she could catch herself a squirrel if they would come down from the tree. Kaya is in rescue and is heartworm negative, up to date on worming, DA2PPvL+Cv vaccines for distemper, parvo, etc., bordatella vaccine for kennel cough, rabies vaccine, Capstar to kill fleas, Frontline to prevent fleas and ticks, spay or neuter, and HomeAgain microchip. Kaya's adoption fee is $250.00.
