Tigra is an energetic and dominant female. We get a lot of joy seeing this once abused darling frolic with a feathery ball!
Tigra went through a lot of hands to get to us and none of them kind. Her first owner had an abusive boyfriend who thought it was funny to force beer down Tigra's throat -- until the day she threw up on his motorcycle (well, who wouldn't get sick after all that?) He then turned to kicking and beating Tigra any time he saw her.
Her owner finally decided to get her out of the house, but unfortunately, the person who adopted Tigra had no experience with abused cats -- since Tigra wasn't loving and acted very skittish around any human, they decided she would be better off outdoors. (Please remember, house cats are domesticated -- you should never put them out to survive on their own)
The day they were leaving town, they suddenly remembered they had a cat and sent out an urgent call to a 'freecycling' list for someone to take her. Thank goodness someone finally brought her to us.
Tigra's now a loving, playful cat. She had been front declawed by one of her former owners. She will always take a bit longer to warm up to men, but her foster dad is still her best buddy. She's even regained her former confidence and is the dominant female in the house. We'd love to see her find a quiet home where she can be pampered like she deserves. Due to her previous traumas, we will not be able to adopt her into a family with young children as she will not adapt well to the stress.
