Nala came to our local shelter as owner surrender. She was at the shelter since 5/2/2013. Time was running out and her cage was desperately needed because the shelter was full and dogs that were being brought in were being euthanized because of lack of space. A kind gentleman that volunteers at the shelter walks the dogs and is their friend for the limited time they are there. He befriended Nala and she quickly became his favorite. I was looking to see what dogs were at the shelter and what could be done to get some adopted or in rescue groups. I spoke to the kind volunteer and he told me how worried he was about Nala and that she had been there a long time. He did not want to see her destroyed. After much discussion with my Fiancé' and local friends that assist in placing dogs in their forever homes, I decided to save Nala and her roommate Sheeba.
Nala is the sweetest dog, she is about 1 year 7 months old and is a Rottweiler/Doberman mix. She lovingly looks up to you, begging for your approval and praise. She is calm in the house and doesn't try to hurt my little Italian Greyhounds. She walks very well on a leash and rides in the car well. She knows how to sit and does so while gazing up at you in adoration. She is soft and huggable and wants nothing more than to be near you. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She is also heartworm negative.
She walks very well on a leash, comes directly when called.
Nala would benefit from someone that is knowledgeable about dog training or would become active in some obedience classes. She watches you to see what you want her to do next and wants to learn new things. Nala also would be good in a home where she would be near her new owner and not left out in a yard. Her calm disposition and smaller size (48 LBS) makes her a good inside dog. She is crate trained but will become stressed if left alone but calms down after a few days when she knows she is safe.
We are at the PetSmarts in Smyrna, Murfreesboro, & Cool Springs every other weekend for adoption events! Our adoptables are all in private foster homes; our events are the best time to meet several, and we also bring the one you're interested in along to the home visit.
Meet some of our adoptable cats daily at the PetSmart in Smyrna during regular store hours.
All of our animals go to indoor only homes.
We do not require a fence for adopting a dog, but they must be leashed/confined at all times while outside and you must have a plan for daily exercise.
